I haven't really been listening to hip-hop lately, but I took the time this week to listen to it and some albums sounded so ****ing refreshing. Albums I haven't listened to in what seems like forever. One in particular just blew me the **** away. I bought this album back in 1999, but hadn't listened to it since, probably, 2004.
Haiku D'Etat
This album was sooooo ahead of it's time! ****, I can't get over how amazing this album is. Lyrically this album is 10/10, but that's not even the highlight. I haven't heard such original production on a hip-hop album since the Cold Vein. I'm dead ****ing serious. Brilliant. Aside form the that Mikah 9, Aceyalone, and Abstract Rude ****ing kill this album.
"MC's sound like we did last year."
No kidding.
Do yourself a favor and listen to this album. Please. Much much better than their follow-up I might add.
i havent been listening to much hip hop either but this past week i threw a couple old albums in my cd player and i forgot how good cyne were. they've got the whole package the flow the lyrics and the beats.
im not really that big on any of those Haiku D'Etat solo guys stuff, but i suppose ill have to check it out if you're going so crazy over it. is it self titled or..?
also listened to a jedi mind tricks record and realized how much i dont like vinnie paz. i dont know about you guys but that was totally a phase for me, all he talks about is killing gay people and praising allah. mother****er needs to get some new material and have it not about burying your click in the ground.
Phat J, seriously check it out. It's their self titled, yea. Give me a couple of hours and I'll rar it and pm it to you. It might take awhile to grow on you, but it's worth the repeated listens. One of the best hip-hop albums ever. Yea I said it. I'll say it again: one of the best albums ever in the genre of hip-hop. Dead serious.
