will episode 3 destroy the origional trilogy?

In ANH, TESB, and ROTJ we don't know that Luke and Leia are siblings, and that Vader is Luke's father. Will Episode III make it impossible to watch I-VI without having that suspense in the last 3?

You are meant to watch the originals first.

yeah but for someone who has never seen star wars and starts watching it in episode order...

Then that is a bit of a shame! But in the end, GL made them as he made them, and if people watch them in the wrong order that is always going to cause trouble.

if it's not clear in EpIII that there will be twins, it keeps the suspence a bit
but all in all, it's not THAT important

I dont think It ruins the classic trilogy at all if you watch them in numeric order starting with Episode 1 and so forth. To me It would just be like watching any other movie say where you know who the bad guy, or murderer is, but the other characters in the movie dont know, and you watch waiting for them to find out. Wondering how there reaction will be when they find out. ... I hope I made sense trying to explain that.

Yes... but there is no doubt that the impact of ESB would be reduced.

If Ep.III doesn't deliver, I'm gonna stick to watching the OT on its own anyway. Roll on the OT DVD release I say...

Yes the inpact would be reduced but i dont think it would ruin it.. i still think that movie is proboly the best one out of them all

Well now, I guess we could know that there are twins...but perhaps it won't show what happens to Leia in III. Alhough of course WE already know, people who haven't seen the OT won't know. Although, at this point, I think most people have already seen the OT, so this is quite a moot point! lol

its not important to have the audience surprised at the revelation that luke and leia are brother and sister or that darth vader is anakins father. weve known that since we saw ROTJ, yet we still enjoy watching the movies. will the fact that none of the characters in the first two prequel movies know sidious is palpatine ruin the revelation in EPIII when the characters of the movie find out this is true? NO. the audience knowing something the charecters do not is a known, proven, literary technique. read any book and you know what is going on in the good guys minds, the bad guys minds, and so on. The fun isnt finding out the truth for yourself, its the moment when the characters realize the truth.

But the ESB revelation was written with people noit knowing it in mind- it was not written this way around. It is logical that if you read the last half of the novel before the first half, you will spoil lots of the first half.

Likewise here. See the new films first, and you will dminish the impact of the old.

Thas basicly what i was trying to say but you said it better haha

But ONLY if it was designed that way. It is not.

the prequals have their own surprises to new fans. believe it or not (maybe it's their hearing or some other crap), a lot of new fans have no idea that Sidious is Palpatine. oh, and as I recall, the revelation that leia was Luke's sister didn't have much impact at all and actually got a lot of criticism from people saying that Lucas was just trying to cynically recreate the surprise from Empire.

Well, that is partly true. it was never the originally intended plot, and all part of the problems of ROTJ...

I personally think that to get the best experience of the series, you must watch them in the order of release. But then again, it all depends on how you look at things.

If you watch the new films first, you'll watch the OT and wonder when R2's gonna use his jet-boots again. 🙄

One of my biggest PT hang-ups right there.

he ran without diesel?

ep 4, 5 and 6 will always hold a special place in my heart.
