One fan's opinion and solution to an ending

From what you wrote JediHDM, and what from I understand, the people who know the truth about The Matrix and the others who have doubts about it can be set free if they want to be. But what about the people who still think The Matrix is the real world (there are some left, I believe)? Do we leave them alone and let them live their virtual lives without knowing the truth? I remember in The first Matrix movie, Morpheus never told Neo the real reason of The Matrix, but had to experience it. That must mean the people who are still unaware of their surroundings have to be unplugged or it will not register in their minds they are living in a program. But if the machines won't let these people be unplugged, there will be doubt. The Architect never told The Oracle he would set the people free who were unaware of The Matrix. And how will the the machines know to set the people free who are in doubt? Will the Agents new purpose be to check every person to see if there is doubt in them then tell them about The Matrix, but then most people won't believe them unless they take the red/blue pill, but that means they have to be unplugged then replugged back if they don’t like what’s out there?

According to this, i think you are not fully understanding my point. Some people will be so stubborn that they will not WANT to be freed, even after they have heard the truth. Everyone in the Matrix will be told the truth, because the rebels will still be going into the Matrix. However, they cannot save everyone at once. It will be a process. Not everyone will believe when they are told, but will have to come to the truth themselves. If the rebels were to destroy the Matrix, it wouldn't free the humans, as you said, but, rather, it would kill them all. The only way for the humans to survive is to allow the Matrix to exist. THE ONLY WAY is for the Matrix to exist. The Matrix is a necessary evil.

Thanks for clearing that major sticking point for me, JEDI. Your telling me that the machines are now going to help (at the very least, not stop the rebels) free the minds of the people still plugged into The Matrix. They may or may not agree to be unplugged or they may even decide to not believe it. I can accept that conclusion, but I don't necessarily have to agree with it. There are too many variables for this too work.
After a time, a vast majority of the people may have left The Matrix making this certain program not viable to run. There could be a city with only a couple hundred residents. Or a neighborhood with 2 families living in it Then the rest of the people in denial would be getting doubts about their reality, causing more and more humans to leave. What about the programs who have become more human than electronic impulses and codes.? They wouldn't want too many changes happening to The Matrix. There could be problems with them. And how about the freed humans? I would imagine that some of them would still be holding a grudge on the machines that have imprisoned them and killed many of their family and friends. They would probably try to sabotage the current peace.
I still think that another incarnation of The One is inevitable.

Good. However, you are forgetting that the machines grow their own humans. I don't think the machines will just stop growing humans, until they have found a viable alternative to the Matrix, such as when the humans and machines clear the skies. Also, we know, from the Matrix Online, that there will be a war between those who think the Matrix is a necessary evil, and those that want to completely destroy the Matrix. I suppose, the end of the story will be entirely up to the gamers.

Jedi, if the machines are still "growing" their human batteries to keep The Matrix running from other humans leaving, then things are about the same as before Neo’s sacrifice. Humans are still grown for the machines own purpose. True, there will be more freed people outside The Matrix, but they will be fending for themselves for the next few generations and with more people to feed, clothe, shelter, etc., telling the new people about the truth would be the least of their worries. The machines would compensate the loss of energy by growing more batteries to replace the ones that have left. The story is still unfinished.
I've been reading some of the other threads, like “Ascertain the fate of The One". I read one of your quotes where you agree with the idea if/when The One returns to the New Matrix it would be with a different purpose. One where he will protect both human and machine.

I’ve stated a similar idea in this topic. It was my own conclusion to The Matrix Revolutions. To reiterate, I think that Neo has evolved past being a program like an agent, even past the rogue programs living in The Matrix. He is more than human because of his connection as the anomaly program, but I would say he is still human because he possesses emotions and free will. I don't think my ending is a "fairy tale" one. As the Architect, he would be there to help both man and machine to try to live together. He would be in a powerful position to show both sides what cooperation can lead to. His past experiences would attest to that. Is that so much different than what you agreed to in another topic?
The ending of revolutions was not the end of the story. This is what disappointed me so much. I didn’t like people saying, in Matrix forums, this was the only ending that could have happened. I would have agreed with them if it actually ended. This was not a movie trilogy. This was a story told partly through 3 films. It is continued, but now you have to buy the online game to see what happens next. Not everyone who loved the The Matrix is going to buy a game to see if it ends or if it will continue again with another games or anime or comic book (I know there won’t be another movie because Big Shot Mr. Ron Silver said so). Although I do love video games, and I have been watching and collecting anime movies/series for over 15 years, I will not buy the next installment of The Matrix. I felt cheated when people (that’s you Mr. Silver) said Revolutions is the end. They should have said the end of part 3…
