The One Ring: power & influences [merged]

I don't think the dwarves ever actcually put thier rings on. that's why they didn't work. I think the dwarves simply saw the rings and were like "sweet! treasure!" and threw it on the pile. not all were recovered either, and i think that was because of smaug and what happened in moria.

LOL..."sweet! treasure!" 😆..classic, but yeah..maybe they didn't. But what I know is the other Rings were consumed by Smaug and the others were lost (or is it still because of Smaug?) but the others however were taken by Sauron.

thanks blue!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the dwarves did wear their rings. Sauron was unable to control their wills, but the rings gave them an almost unquenchable desire for treasure. That is why their halls were so grand and their mines so deep. Maybe even a reason the Balrog was released in Moria.
Second, if the ring enhance no power but Sauron then why did Gandalf and Galadriel(?) refuse to take it when Frodo was going to give it to them? Why did Sauron seek it?
The ring would enhance power based on inherant power of the wearer.
i.e. Gandalf and Sauron would be super mighty wizards; Galadriel would be a beautiful terrible queen, and Sauron would be back to his same old nasty self (pre-ring era). That's why none of the hobbits were affected except to be made invisible. They were arguably the weakest sentient beings in Middle Earth. No power to begin with, so they just blinked out and entered the wraith world while wearing it.

they wore them 😄...sauron got them back......he got EVERY ring back..apart from the three elvisg ones...and the one!

I thought he only recovered two of the dwarves rings. 😕

No he didnt really recover all dwarvish rings - some were devoured by dragons

he recovered some of them and sent witchy to gloin and offered them back in exchange for aliance and assistance!!!
Sauron recovered three of the Seven Rings and the other four had been consumed by dragons.

and yes i think they did put them on, but they seemed to have a funny attitude about it. maybe Saurons evil got poor reception in moria due to the thickness of the mountain...

🤣

The Ring is ensured that Sauron did not lose his native element. The circle is the symbol of infinity. The elves were trying to preserve Middle Earth in amber, very ignoble. Sauron can take advantage of such selfishness.

With the Ring, Sauron could channel the Melkor notes of Arda.

yes....and also the ring goes shiney and writing can be seen in the language of mordor when set on fire...

Discos - yes I would like some nice crayons

and alos it makes you grow 1000000 feet tall and gives you the power to control doctor who!!!!!!!!

and you can pick up HBO

Wait a minute....If when you put the Ring on,you go into the Void, how come in the begining of FOTR you can see Sauron, but he has the Ring on...Knowing me I either am not thinking today,or completley skipped over something explaining that..... 😕

Why don't you guys read the books?

it doesn't affect him the same way. the less power you have the less you can access or controll the rings powers.

I did read the books...Well,I am working through the Sillmarillion right now...I have read the Hobbit and The Return of the King....I am going in such an odd order....And I am very tired...I have been loading other peoples' avatars.....

It has been explained here http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f34/t26644.html

Isildur

If Isildur would have not been killed would he have turned into a Nazgul????Because he had the ONE RING, And how come the Kings turned into black riders and the other ppl that got rings stayed normal???? it would be funny to see a dwarf as a nazgul. 😛

Y'know what...the short Nazgul probably was the dwarf! 😆

Isildur would probably not be a Nazgul because Sauron made the 9 Kings that recieved their rings of power and made them Nazguls. The dwarves, we don't really know what happened to them or their rings, but most of the Dwarven Rings are pretty much out of existance...

The elven rings, if Sauron got to them, he probably would do something to the elves that bore them, if he possibly could.

coooooooooool, anyone hear anything about Sean Bean aka Boromir, playing one of the Nazgul, thought i heard sumtin about that. He was one of the black riders
