Was the timing off?

If Revolutions film was released in the cinema at Easter time, would people have understood what message the film was trying to convey?

Or was the ending impossible to understand if you hadn't seen Renaissance parts 1 & 2?

And was it unrealistic to expect everybody who watched the films to see Animatrix and buy Enter the Matrix in order to be able follow the story?

the films are made so that you can follow the storyline whether or not you watch Animatrix or play ETM, however, they both provide a more complete story, for the fans.

That's easy for us to say, we've seen it all, but for the general public , I'm not so sure.
