Most disturbing horror film?

Pet Cemetery. the Achilles heel scene.

I have to admit as a child I was deathly scared of Leprechaun. To the point where I would see him at nights and hear his voice, until finally I was blessed and he was gone.

The only horror movies, I can say as a true horror movie fan, is the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Evil Dead 1&2.

At 17 years old, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre scares the living hell out of me, not because it is "scary" but because the whole old, grainy/documentary film part of the movie is really creepy. I can't watch it by myself because I get chills and feel like something is going to happen to me.

Evil Dead 1&2 I can't even watch at night by myself. The sounds and the way the dead talk in that movie is so creative and different it creeps me out.

Yeah, the first Evil Dead was pretty disturbing, especially the ending.... melting....... looked like cottage cheese....... 😘

The Ring scared the hell out of me. I was afraid to open the television for I thought Sadako would pop out anytime. I was also afraid to answer the phone. And after seven days, I was already okay.

I just bought Irreversible at a local FYE store yesterday and the rape scene is pretty disturbing but it didn't really bother me as much as the guy walking around the gay club and seeing men with assless chaps on asking to be fisted.... But overall the movie is very good, and yes its not really horror but the scenes of violence in the movie are far better than a lot of horror movies scenes. Way more realistic.

Yes, Irreversible is astounding and brutal.

Both the rape and the scene in "The Rectum" are deeply affecting and unsettling.

See 'I Stand Alone' if you were impressed with Irreversible, it's that directors prior film and it's always extremely bleak and disturbing.

Ok Ill definatly have to check it out, usually after checking out the movies you suggest the movies are always satisfying. I also got cannibal holocaust a while back and the whole movie is pretty much entertaining and the animal slayings are quite disturbing. Although I thought that the muskrat scene was more disturbing than the turtle. Been wanting to see 120 days of sodom but so far cant find it anywhere. Ill check that " I Stand Alone " movie out sometime, doubt you can rent it so Ill probably end up blind buying it like I did with Irreversible and Cannibal Holocaust which were both worth it.

I don't really enjoy watching these very disturbing films, they leave me with a really bad taste in my mouth, and so my nomination for disturbing horror film is probably Audition. Which somehow managed to be depressing as well.

Not a horror film, but Man Who Fell To Earth with David Bowie in it disturbed me slightly too.

I thought the ending was

Spoiler:
A demon taking over ash

Not so much a horror film, but the film that disturbed me the most was In A Glass Cage

others include: Cannibal, Nekromantik, Men Behind The Sun, and the Aussie film, Feed.

kind of childish.
But the "13 ghosts" movie, Really gave me nightmares.

the most disturbing for me are The Melting Man (late 70's), The Beast Within (late 70's or early 80's)..the uncut version has since been banned..and the ever faithful The Exorcist. That last one still freaks me the f**k out!

Another pretty disturbing film, although not really horror, is the Russian film about the Nazi's in WWII called Come and See.

The August Underground films upset me abit because the shit that goes on in those films could take place in real life. Also the 'penis cutting' in AU's Mordum is just painful to watch and stuck in my mind more than anything ive seen in a film.

AU movies are backyard jobs. That look pathetic and aren't movies IMO.

There meant to look like that to give them a sense of realism and show murder for what it is nasty grim and wrong unlike alot of hollywood crap which is glamourised to look 'cool'. Im not saying the AU films are brilliant but there certainly original in terms of look atmosphere and nastiness from an american film.

Personally I think the first and third AU films are very strong. The first AU is one of the most believable fake snuffs I've ever seen. And the third one is the best of the bunch - it combines the harsh gore of the second one while maintaining the dark and even somewhat subtle tone of the first. The home invasion scene in Penance is one of the most frightening scenes I've seen.

Everything about the AU movies is fake. They are indie film and sure as hell look like it.

Those movies just should of never been made, anyone of us could make a film exactly the same.

Not really. I've heard many stories about people who saw the first one without knowing what it was, and thought it was genuine. It's one of those films where the roughness and cheapness of the picture and the bad editing actually enhance its plausibility as that's how home movies actually look.
