JediHDM- you and i are very intelligent...but cmon dont you think Matrix would have been a much better movie if it hadn't taken soo much from other religious/mythological/political etc etc lol stuff
when i was watching the movie, i was comparing to over a milliion things.
im just saying it could have been better, and thats my opinon.
if u ever make a good intellectual thread in the Matrix forum just pm me 🙂
no, i don't...there are three intellectual things that actually matter in day to day life. these are the matters of contention. religion, philosophy, and politics, and politics is really only an extension of the other two. If you make a movie, and you wish to convey a sense of realism, then you should include all three of these. I think that the Bros. made a point of showing that many prominent religions today share many aspects, and can be considered to have derived from the same place. So, it comes as no surprise to see this in the Matrix. The reason i like the movie so much is because it derives from so many sources, while still telling a story that is new and unique. Yes, i know there are tons of novels about just this sort of thing, but the execution was marvelous. I love finding new references/allusions/metaphors. It shows the depth of the movies, and the complexity of the bros. minds. And i don't know what you mean by a good intellectual thread, but if you go and look between ~august to november, there were quite a lot of intellectual threads.
and the political thing i said CAN make sense (i just noticed) but i said "lol" (joking) 😂
but yea ill check out threads from august to nov and ill post. yes i do agree the first Matrix was a good movie. but im not a fan of idealistic movies...i mean im not a fan of non-realistic movies. i dont like the sci-fi type movies but ironically i loved Aliens, Predator (other sci-fi horror movies) and i loved reading the Sci-fi books by Jules Verne. I guess i didn't like the way Matrix was. If it was just a bit more realistic i would have loved it. Number 2 was alright and number 3 was meh 🙁
its good to see that they took references but they took a little too much in my opinion. one thing i loved about the movie is that it had sub divisioned underlying messages for each thing that happens. if Neo didn't fly, stop bullets, or any other fantasy type thing i would have considered it a masterpiece series. but it isn't in my opinon 🙂
the point is that the Matrix is not supposed to show a realistic world realistically...it is a symbolic account of life. The end of Revolutions crosses the line between movie and anime, and many people didn't like it because of that. Personally, i would like to see more. if you take it as a metaphor, you might like it more.
Truly the religion thing is a nice touch, what would you turn to if you were in a position when your being wiped out... one by one... and there was basically no hope? They had no chance to begin with in that movie... truly i don't like the idea that the machines didn't have far more advanced weapons nor the humans used more electrical based since they got a hand held one but bullets for their walkers....
Most religious stories are actually like this movie... impossible being stopped by miracle...
Those who oppose... die then....

All that stuff about humans being connected to a machine that implants toughs and ideas is what kept me into the original Matrix. Then Reloaded comes out! I'm so excited! I want to see more of the Philosophy the first film provided....and then while watching the sequel.......a Love story????? WTH??? Lost interest right there and then.
