What's more I think it's always tricky to compare two players who lived at 2 different eras.

Indeed. Not to mention picking players that have only played in one championship. I'm not saying one championship is better then others but some players just cant adapt to different styles. That is also a quality that makes a great player.
But lets face it, good players does not equal good team.

Neville - great winner of the ball and makes intelligent passes
Cannavaro - same reasons as neville
Carlos - scores teriffic goals and makes good tackles

Zidane - just oozes quality
alan thompson - can score from just about anywhere
ronaldinho - clever passes and great skill
baraja - great finisher, no nonsense midfielder
Nedved- quick. and clever

schevchenko- natural goalscorer
v.nistelrooy- who else?

Toldo - more dependable than buffon

Cannavaro - Reads the game superbly
Nesta - The best defender in the world
Metzelder - Great all rounder

Pires - Links up brilliantly with the other tam mates
Keane - Not the player he was but keeps everyone in check
Rivaldo - As good as Zidane in his own way
Ronaldinho - Right now the best form player in the world

i can admit robben's form has been nothing short of outstanding lately, i'd still prefer duff...

joaquin has been a star in spain for years, he's a talented player no doubt, right now though i'd still put duff and robben ahead of him (form wise)...
