Kill Bill References [merged]

Bottom line: the concept of people being unhappy with pre-chosen nicknames is a common theme. End of discussion. It's clear that Tarantino has always been very racially oriented (using the N word to the Nth degree) and whatever else. If you want to speculate, that's cool, but only one comment was really being made.

how else are we meant to boost our post count?

i mean uuh... 😗

lol -- good point... I say Mr. Orange went to the LAPD because he was unhappy with his name.. yeah, that's it.. I say there's a name conspiracy!

nah, i just like arguing 😊 even when i agree 😛

Not to be pedantic, but...Freddy Newendyke was working for the LAPD long before he became Mr. Orange.

Sorry, I'll shut up now.

lol -- came in a little late - I was just chiding Dave for picking a fight just to get a posting upgrade...

I've got over 10k posts anyway 😄

but seriously, lets get this back on topic (sorry, I'm used to the OTF)

😱 anyone got some mroe references???

I've got a truckload from my old thread...

-A similar gas can to the one Mr. Blonde uses on the cop is in Budd's trailer
-The Bride pulls a straight-razor from her cowboy boots, just as Mr. Blonde does in Reservoir Dogs
-The brand of cigarettes Butch orders at Wallace's club are Red Apples - look for a huge Red Apple ad in the airport of Japan when The Bride is walking through
-There's a line that Harvey Keitel says in the beginning of Dogs basically says 'along with the kneecap, the gut is the most painful place a guy can get shot in' very similar to the line Bill says to The Bride
-Is it just me or is Mr. Blonde holding a Big Kahuna Burger cup in Dogs?
-Budd uses the same lighter to light his cigarette as Mr. Blonde was about to use on the cop
-Budd, obviously uncomfortable with his companion's catsuit attire chooses a very Reservoir Dogs-style outfit when he walks into the chapel - thin black tie and all - along with the glasses.
- When in Vernita's house, the Bride makes the same square shape (this time with only one finger) as she did in the car with Vince Vega at Jack Rabbit Slim's when she's explaining to Vernita that in order to be square (even-steven) she would have to kill her whole family
- This is a picky one, but when The Bride finally comes out of the coma, it looks a lot like after they give her the adrenaline shot
Also the same "trunk shot":
- Reservoir Dogs - Mr Blonde showing the cop in the trunk.
- Pulp Fiction - when Vincent and Jules are getting the guns out of the trunk.
- Jackie Brown - guy in the trunk.
- Kill Bill - Beatrix opening the trunk to question Sofie Fatale.

You can see boxes of cereal (QT's favorite food) in nearly every one of his movies.

He didnt keep it Fruit Brute in Kill Bill though, it was KABOOM! cereal in Kill Bill. Sorry most everyone probably knew that already. 😛

KABOOM was a reference/warning about the gun, that's why

... and I do believe it's actually a real cereal

Yea i kinda noticed, just letting everyone know he didnt use Fruit Brute in this movie at all. Im not sure if KABOOM was a real cereal but Fruit Brute was one of the discontinued "Monster" Cereals.

never seen it England 🙁

A lot of cereals have a shelf life of about... a month. In a lot of QT articles they talk about him being sad about that... particularly his remorse that Bill and Ted's Excellent Cereal was pulled - one of his all-time favorites.

Where do you read this stuff about Quentin? Are you stalking him? 😆

j/k.

i am 😖hifty:

I miss the Bill and Ted cereal. Mmm... marshmellow guitars.

When the Red Apple reference was mentioned just now for KB, I got a mental picture of the Bride walking through the airport, and the tracking shot following her through the terminal at a side view.

Now, not to imply that this is anything but MARGINALLY near to another element in another QT movie, but is it POSSIBLE that this is SLIGHTLY close to being MICROSCOPICALLY similar to the opening shot of "Jackie Brown", which follows Jackie through the terminal using the same angle (left side, walking right to left)?
