However, there's also a little theory going around that James Bond is actually a code name and not 007's real name. And the reason why different people have protrayed him within the time space of 40 years or more is because the previous agents were killed. They take on the persona of James Bond.
I little off the subject, I know. But an interesting theory. Though it has never been said.
Til Goldeneye, the theory stood. And yet, when I think back: Goldeneye took place in 1995, and Bond infiltrated the Russian base in the beginning scene 7 years before (1988)...the USSR collasped 1991...the KGB was disbanned and became the New Russian Intelligence... so that would make Dalton's protray of Bond moot in Licence to Kill in 1989...
The theory does get confusing when you think about all the details.
For Ernst Stavro Blofeld fans
Since we're talking about the many different faces of Blofeld and the different actors who have protrayed him over the years, here they are and in sequence of appearance. Despite Blofeld making appearances in movies before his first face appearance, these are the only actors who have protrayed the SPECTRE leader visually. IMO I believe Donald Pleasence made the best and more believable Blofeld. Blofeld is supposed to be evil and heartless, the scarred Blofeld look does the character justice. The Terry Savalas version is much too joyous to Bond, and not as believable.
#1 Donald Pleasence (1967) You Only Live Twice
#2 Telly Savalas (1969) On Her Majesy's Secret Service
#3 Charles Gray (1971) Diamonds Are Forever
#4 Unknown Stuntman (1981) For Your Eyes Only
#5 Max Von Sydow (1983) Never Say Never Again (Despite not an official Bond.)
(thought some more about that theory:
Lazenby marries, and in FYEO, Moore looks at her grave, and it says Terresa Bond, so, it's the bond name she has and someone who has nothing to do with it looks her up)
Spectre:
First book mentioning in Thunderball and were active for 3 years already at that point.
that's about it I think 😖
