Okay, kiddies. Here's a list of pre-90's (1990 😄 ) comedies that everyone should see IMHO. Incl. some commentary.
BAD NEWS BEARS-The most un-P.C. movie ever made! Why won't they do this anymore?
USED CARS-Answers the question, how can a dog wake up a sleeping mechanic under a car?
SLAP SHOT-What are you going to do with your one phone call from jail?...Call for pizza!!
THIS IS SPINAL TAP-One word review of their album 'Sharksandwich'...$h1tsandwich!
FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH-Great cast including Forest Whitaker as the crazed middle-linebacker!
KELLY'S HEROS-with Telly Savalas, George Savalas and tanks...how can you go wrong! However, Donald Sutherland as a hippie during WWII is kinda goofy!
ANIMAL HOUSE-I am dating myself here, but when I saw this one at the theater, 3/4 of the dialog could not be heard 'cause of the audience laughter.
CADDYSHACK-Look for Douglas Kenney (co-writer of this and Animal House, also played 'Stork' in Animal House) who who accidentally got killed while trying to commit suicide a few years after this movie.
CLOCKWORK ORANGE-'They tried to rehabiliate us-they couldn't, so they made us policemen.'
LONGEST YARD-My favorite football play-'23 Ball Curl' (Pass to middlelinebacker's nuts)
Post 2000 Choice:
AUTOFOCUS-Seeing Klink and Shultz in a porn movie kills me!
Honourable mention: MASH (The pre-TV series movie, dummy) Scrooged-'She hit me with a toaster!'
Ed Wood-Hearing Bella Lugosi calling Boris Karloff a C-Sucker cracks me up!
Dirty Dozen-John Cassevettes is brilliant! Telly Savalas as Archer Maggot is scary/funny.
THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT-KEITH MOON 'THE LOON' RULES! Townshend's characterization of the Beatle's backround music as 'pretty lousy' is classic!
Let's discuss!!!
