it's tough to go against pele. although after another impressive performance in the 2002 world cup ronaldo's world cup stats r nearly identical to pele's. the big difference being, at one point in time brazil named pele a national treasure. no other soccer player can make that claim. also, pele has a global fame, similar to michael jordan. you can say the name pele to someone who knows nothing about soccer, and they'll know who you're talking about

Not to mention that when Pele played he didnt have boots specially made for him and all that crap that players these days have.
