In French the province is called "Labrador & Terre-Neuve" (terre-neuve meaning "New (found) land"😉 and Terre-Neuve is the name of the island. Hence my mistake, I've always thought the island was also Newfoundland in English (b/c the rest of the area was called Labrador) 😮 😮 😮
tricky though http://www.gov.nf.ca/tourism/mainmenu/whattodo/itin/default.htm
A funny thing to know for the French speakers is that, if the region is called Labrador (a kind of dog), Terre-neuve is another kind of dog.
Plus the region was more or less discovered by a man named Cabot. "cabot" is the familiar word to say "dog" (chien) in French...That's a lot of coincidences
*definitely goes to bed*
