my mark scheme says 10kg, and I have no idea how either were worked out... I do have one idea, I'll give that a shot now 🤺

OK, back to the diagram:

Add a force of (65+m)g at the point C. Point C is 2.4m away from A, right? (because 4-1.6 = 2.4)

Do Moments About A:

2mg + 160g = 2.4 (65+m)g
Cancel out the g's
2m + 160 = 2.4 (65+m)
Mutliply the bracket
2m + 160 = 156 + 2.4m
160 - 156 = 2.4m - 2m
4 = 0.4m
m = 10kg

Moments about A:

this means that all the forces from any point going clockwise are equal to the forces going anti-clockwise, and therefore keep it in equilibrium (not moving).

If a 5N force is 1 metre away, this is the same as a 1N force that is 5 metres away, which is the same as a 0.5N force 10 metres away

Because there is a 40g force which is 4 metres away... 4*40 = 160
