uuuuh 29 i think...or 27
better than flippin gemini...i'm still pissed at them

I used to watch this every year up until about 5/6 years ago when they stopped asking the public (UK) who should represent them. It used to be a big public event that loads of people were into and they would spend weeks on the voting process in series of heats for different bands or one singer but different songs. The voting used to have it's own show or would feature on TOTP but then they suddenly just stopped and our entries got crappier and crappier thanks to whoever was choosing them 馃槧 although they did do a public vote this time but we ended up with a shitty candidate (imo) from Fame Acadamy, I mean if it was going to be a FA person why couldn't it be someone talented and with charisma like Carolyne or Paris!

As for political connotations, last year, it was widely believed that even though Gemini (the UK entry act) were rubbish beyond words they were still good in comparison to some of the European entries 馃槚hifty: but we got nil points which was the first time since.... Many people believed it was because we backed the US in the war and went against the major European countries so they allied against us in the voting. Back when I used to watch it, it never seemed overtly political but yeah, countries that were direct neighbors always tended to be benevolent to each other.

Man, Eurovision is a joke.

What's with all the red coats representing everybodies countries?

It's too cheesy, with half of the acts capitalising on the "gay is so hot right now" image. Eurotrash garbage.

Capitalising on the 'gay is so hot right now' image?

As far as I know and have seen Europop, techno, dance and retro have been trends in many European countries for a long time and that has been reflected in the Eurovision for years not just now hence I can't see it having to do with any image of homosexuality.

Plus it's hardly fair to call it eurotrash garbage when the UK is and has been guilty of it's own fair share of trashy music. Also, even though I agree the cheesy music does stand out not all songs in the competition are overly poppish, some countries like to use traditional music from their culture and there have been many with beautiful instrumentals and vocals.

Boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you kidding? They look hot and all - but they were like a sideshow from Disneyland.

Cheese, cheese and cheese.

Oh and by the way, yes, they were capitalising on the "gay is so hot right now" image; didn't you see Bosnias entry?

Two hot girls dancing behind a bleach blonde guy - who was wearing girls jeans and a PINK VEST! Can't get more camp than that.

It's a joke, but the only funny thing was Terry Wogan, his dry comments at least TRIED to save that abysmal pile of crap.

No I'm not kidding, I've always found that kind of costume to have an appeal to it, I don't particularly care if anyone finds it cheesy.

Like I said - it's not capitalising on any current camp fad (which itself isn't new) because that kind of exhibitionism has been present in the Eurovision for a long time. So what if he was wearing pink and has bleached blonde hair, tons of guys do plus if it was really camp - wouldn't it be guys dancing behind him 馃槈

No, because they were doing the whole "lets capitalise on the gay-is-so-hot-right-now image, but have hot ladies dancing behind him so it's less obvious".

But seriously, we can go on about it for ages. The fact of the matter is its crap.
