(Dennis, I don't think the grunt would have died from cold, since they breathe Methane and live on a cold planet... but whatever...)
The grunt rubbed his head and waddled over to a corner. He watched Tekka try to maneuvar the ship and heard the Spartan banging on the door to try and open it. He went over to Tekka and pushed a button on his back armor, a small hissing was heard as his shield was deactivated. "OoOoOoO" The grunt chortled.
"I see him, Mr.C." the pilot said excitedly. "Lord, he is huge, dammit!"
"Spartans are always huge, son." Clark said. "Let's hope he ain't trigger happy when we approach."
The pilot eased the engines up, and brought the Pelican down in an expert sideslip, bringing up the flaps.
"Weapons ready, marines." Clark put on his visored helmet.
"Yes, Mr.C, sir!"
The ramp lowered, and they marched out, weapons relaxed, yet with safeties off. Clark made sure a round was chambered in his sidearm, and plodded forward.
A round pinged off the hull not two inches from his head.
"Down, marines! Do not return fire! I repeat, we are weapons tight!"
Everyone dropped, searching for the next telltale muzzle flash.
"Hold your fire, Spartan! We are friendlies, repeat, friendlies." Clark called out in a commanding tone.

Clark exhaled. "Damn good to see you too, son. We've caught your frequency, and couldn't bear to leave a perfectly good soldier out to die in the middle of nowhere."He grinned, shook the Spartan's icy gauntlet, and peered at the Grunt.
"What the - "
Clark glanced down at the grunt, and chuckled. "Lemme guess. He's abandoned his ol' cruel masters to join the good guys, eh? Well, he's welcome as long as he doesn't shoot one of my boys in the back.
The marines looked at each other; their faces were impossible to distinguish through the azure blue tinted visors.

"Well, we can't have you freezing out here, Spartan." Clark said, snapping to action. "Harfield, prep the 'bird for flight. Canniston, replace the fuel canisters."
Two marines snapped quick salutes and ran back off to the dropship.
"Let's get you on board, son." Clark jerked his thumb over his shoulder, safing his sidearm.
Originally posted by DarkC*The Spartan grinned from inside his helmet* Clark, you always were bossy, even when I was just a marine
