USH'S STAR WARS GAME- CAMPAIGN II, EPISODE I (LIGHT SIDE)- Conspiracy

This is indeed Kenobi's notes on the matter.

Other than the pre-trial hearing deails themselves (Kenobi notes that the hearings have been ridiculously delayed as the situation was debated in the Senate), the highlighted parts are abouyt what is relevant to your particular task.

The Viceroy says he is ecertain that someone is trying to kill him. Kenobi does not think the Viceroy means the Sith; he thinks the suspicion is purely political. He also thinks it is part of an overall attempt to delay or defer the trial still furhter- almost certainly a lot of negative influence is being placed on the Senate. Luckily, the Chancellor is on-board the pro-trial side (hardly a surprise, if you think about it- Naboo is his homeworld!). In fact, talking of the Sith, the Viceroy has never mentioned anything of the mind- Kenobi's entire case has rested on statements form other people. As he told you, al he has established is that the Federation was taking its orders from an mysterious unidentified figure who contacted the leadership remotely. Qui-Gon was sure that the Sith were manipulating the situation, and it also seems like that the Sith assassin was sent to aid the Federation when Qui-Gon rather ruined their plans. This whole Sith hypothesis, then, is an extrapolation of the Jedi investigation and nothing to do with the Viceroy's pleas for protection.

The source of the Viceroy's pleas stems from the fact that last month, his cousin was assassinated on Neimodia.

Now, Kenobi notes that Neimodia is a very unpleasant place indeed- in fact, the tone seems to be that the entire planet is in violation of a hundred Republican laws but gets away with it due to political lobbying- kind of place you loathe, Marcus. Assassination is a commonplace means of advancement- power struggles are always vicious. Such a struggle was expected after thr Viceroy's arrest

But... actually it never happened,. Somehow- again going back to the obscure politicising behind the trial- the Viceroy has stayed in power! In that context assassining his couisn-a possible successor- seems pointless. Achieves nothing. There could be a thousand other reasons why this has happened. Such things happen a lot. But it is just slightly odd enough for the Viceory to make out it is the start of a pattern of executions that will include him. Hence... all this.

However. There is one disturbing post-script. Gunray hired a private investigater to look into his cousin's death. Now, this is a little extreme- the investigator has been murdered as well. At the time of writing, kenobi was awaiting the autopsy report.

The autopsy report is attached to the file- it arrived after Kenobi handed over to you.

"hmmm most interesting"
*closes the datapad and keeps it to give master gundark a look*
"Can you take me to the viceroy now?"

Densk turns to Roan and Xeth. "What do you think?" He asks them.

I know im a noob but how do iget an icon to come up under my SN

looks over gundarks shoulder and reads the pad "Marcus.... I think I should visit Neimodia and investigate the Murder of gunrays investigater makes me tingle!" Sais Vlad

"until the council gives you that order you will remain here"
"remember your place young knight, we were not sent here to investigate the muder of the Viceroys investigator but to protect the vice roy that's what we're gonna do"

"Fine" he said

OK Sorry I havent been around much. Lotsa RL stuff going on.
To Sundra's question "Some people think that being wealthy is the best goal in the universe and they will go to any means to obtain it. These men are very dangerouse because they value their lives less then the weath they are after."

Ok Synopsis of what I have figured out.
The Corsairs are just like regular pirates, but all of a sudden they have beed striking indescriminanly against ground targets with brutal and deadly force. There is absolutly no pattern and they seen to leave no-one alive. There seem to care nothing about casualtys and loss of life or ships. Also there is no way to see where they dissapear to.

Now what I think is that there obviously is pulling the strings. And this person is not in it for money because he is paying them enough for the corsairs to ignore losses. Also these are obviously scare tactics to frighten the population. Now what I want to know is what somone would gain by capturing the system and I am about to ask that. Now without further Adu.

"Before we go I would like to ask you something, Is there anything that someone would gain by controling this whole system. Something maybe not peticularly obvious maybe?"

Densk thought on this, "Maybe someone doesn't want to controll the system. They want the population to be frightened and scared. So the goveremnet and politics can go corrupt in a time of need. So the planet can be vulnerable. If this is true why would they want the planet to be corrupt." "Back to your point I can't think of what they would gain if they controlled the system. Resources needed for another clan or planet or to sell. Is there any rare resources here on this planet?" Densk turned around and asked.

"Political power is worth much more than valuable resources. Does the Viceroy have any connections in the area?"

Why are you asking about the Viceroy, Xeous?

"The sector, you mean?" asks Marios. "Other than it being politically impossible for pirates to take control of a strong Republican sector like this, no, I cannot think of anything in particular to be gained here. We are just common people, Master Jedi."

"Master," asks Sunda, "I don't understand. If these people are being paid to do all this, then why are they so fanatic? If I knew the money was coming to me, I would be rather reticient to be reckless in combat. Mercenaries don't act like fanatics. These people sound more like religious zealots."

-

Still, it might be worth considering, Marcus. You have enough manpower here to take that option on board- if the threat to the Viceroy's life originates from Neimodia, it might be possible to stop it there also. Nonetheless, it is indeed vital that the Viceroy's protection here takes top priority.

Very well, if you wish Gundy to check the records, you people can go meet the Viceroy- if you are ready?

I'd like to meet the viceroy first and then take a look at the autopsy report

"How could it be politics. IMaybe if the pirates were hired to kill one or take down there campaign but to where they attack there is no pattern towards taking down a specfic campaign.
"Have any of the parties started doing bad since the race started?" "Asides that I highly dislike politics."

Very vague question, Densk. The Anzat sector is represented by four Senators from differnt worlds within it. Almost certainly this sort of thing gets negative publicity, but even so this is clearly not a political move. Not by the pirates, anyway, and they are being oddly fanatical if you think they are being used simply as political troublemakers.

Sohio guides you to the Viceroy's suite.

"I'll let you handle this," he says, just outside. "I'll return to the security arrangements."

"thank you"

*Knocks on the door*

Densk sighed, "Im out of suggestions and theories." He took a step back eying his compainons. "At this rate I think we should stop guessing because we have no evidence of anything they are trying to do. About all we have is they act recklessly unlike mercanaies. After you both re evalaute this once more I have a plan.

"You have a point Sudra, they could be religious zelots. It all just doesn't add up."

Could we go to the attack site now?

Stands traigth up his chin up like a true Jedi Knight

I've been wanting to go to it for the past 3 days...I'm just killing time, Ush. Don't take too much from what I asked by the Viceroy...

Marcus, you knock.

"What? What? Come in..." comes a voice from inside.

-

Ok, Roan, you hyper over to the world in question. It is a tropical world, rather warm- and it looks very innocuous.

*opens the door, not knowing what to find*
