To get to sleep better:
1) Don't drink any caffeine late in the day.
2) Don't drink and smoke to excess.
3) Have a winding down routine lasting an hour at the same time every day.
4) Have a hot drink before bed.
5) Make sure the sleeping environment is cool and airy.
Despite precautions 1,2,3 and 5 I still have trouble sleeping. 😬
