I noticed a recurring theme with the destruction of the Trees and Numenor. The fiends become disfigured permanently (and Melkor weakened)

The Silmarillion said that he was diminished be "the power that had gone out of him" and that he could no longer change shape, was constantly tortured by the Silmarils and that his strength evapourated through his malice - so that he was no longer up to attacking the maiar who managed the sun!

No longer? 😕 but the Sun was made after the Trees were destroyed

And
He did attack them - especially her - again later... and she died... which is the reason / origin of the fourth game entry on the last page of the LLG 😛

And Sauron wasn't Melkor's thrall 😒
