I hate it when all publishers compare their fictional works to Tolkien's Arda ❌ it's so... unimaginative... and megalomaniac... of course it's nice as it shows how much everybody seems to love Lotr... but it's annoying when every second fantasy book is compared to something that is imo impossible to reach ever again😑 then I shouldnt be depressed... at all... 😛 *smiles quickly*
If so, then it also shows the difference between one blinded by self-overestimate and one who thinks before he reacts - and reacts for his own good
idd, idd.......
unfortunately that is a side effect of the success of the films...for everyone's minds are on LotR. so to compare it ignites curiousity of the fans in the hopes they read these books....
as to your other points...Exa (pause) Oh Exa...you are the point to my counterpoint and vice versa...
where i use wit you use knowledge
where i use knowledge you use cunning
beneath that surface you wear so beautifully lies a person bountied with humour that never ceases to crack a smile upon my face 😊
Aiya, §pear and Fayanáro 🙂

Aiya, §pear and Fayanáro 🙂Indeed...
Suddenly loads of crap are entitled "LoTR" - it all has become pure commercialism without any respect for the original background 🙁Me and humour?
Nope 😛

^
^...i agree - the commercial success of LOTR has created many copycats or wannabees...the last book i read is very good but there is no comparison to tolkiens idyllic world he created...had they compared him to tolkien's status as a writer and not the end product written, then maybe yes...
and i do believe you when you say you're serious 🙄

True 🙁 especially about the copycats... most typical fantasy is copying lotr, more or less... especially the idea of the dwarf-elf-mortal-relationship 😬 and the new languages... but most fantasy languages are simply boring, superficial and uncharacteristic/not really individual 🙁✅ good, good 😉 Thank you 😛
😆
and to a degree, you could almost say that tolkien was a copycat...the familiarity is there...however he did take it beyond the saga like writings of ancient times and rendered it in a way readable to his contemporaries...even if bits of it do seem like a vulgar form of shakespeare and biblical text...BUT i digress... 😛

He isnt a copycat... he was inspired 😛 😛 ✅
And the only similarity with Shakespeare is imo the tragical element - like in Túrin's story, the end sometimes reminds me of Romeo and Juliet - and the use of kinda archaic language
Which is nothing special for Shakespeare as for him it was modern
And Tolkien - well he was professor for anglosaxon and generally some older germanic languages and wanted to give his world a language that suits the amazing story, so... 😛
