Though I sometimes really like German... not when it's spoken, but the sound changes from Old High German to our modern Standard German are quite interesting for example 😄 generally the relationship to other germanic languages... and the grammar can also be quite interesting because it's in my opinion rather illogical and has LOADS of exceptions and so on... best part of german still being the umlaut in the plurals because something similar happens in Sindarin 😛

Language can be a beautiful thing when spoken. However, nowadays most people tend to be lazy and rather speak colloquially than properly. It is far easier for one to say: "Yo, wassup!" rather than: "Hello. How are you today?". That is the unfortunate side effect of languages whether it's english or otherwise. I'll admit, some can sound very harsh and gutteral to the ear. But language spoken beautifully can sound like music if one takes the time to hear. Just cause we have ears, does not mean we listen.

I also love words
There are some words I totally admire... i could just stare at them for hours, speaking them and listening to what they sound like... how lively they are and yet so calm, so elegant and so beautiful... especially when I don't know what some words mean, in english for example... when i first read the word "candescence" for example, I had no idea what it means but it was such a wonderful word, I could think of nothing else than this word for several minutes...
I also don't necessarily want to learn them, sometimes I just love to read / stare at texts in languages that are totally foreign to me, where I don't understand a word... it's wonderful 🙂
I do the same 😛 Just stare at things that i don't understand, but i enjoy that even more than the languages i know sometimes.
And when words are all put together in a book, they are even more wonderful, and more beautiful...
REading is so much better than speaking...It is easier and makes much more sense....that is why i love KMC so much...no talking 😛
The beauty of languages is the way it labels things that are obvious to our eyes even if what we see could actually be something else. A table is a table because that is what we have labelled it.
But to come up with a word to describe something that is intangible such as "candescence" takes imagination and creativity in order to do that. While most languages are phonetic, english is somewhat of anomoly because at times it can be confusing even to those that speak it. Our vowels have two forms: long and short. I ask why?
Then there are some words that sound the same but different in spelling and meaning. E.g.: their and there and they're.

Yea, that's the problem when you know a language - you can't really just listen to the sound or see the beauty of the words, you can't escape your mind's will to understand the words written down, you automatically only see the sense instead of hearing the sound...
Books are undoubtedly one of the best things ever invented in this world 🙂 I love them... sometimes I spend half an hour just looking at them staring down at me from their place in the bookboards... so many different books... each one with a different story... each one inside just black signs on white paper and yet thousands of thoughts of the people who wrote them inside of them, people that already died ages ago maybe, and only surviving thing being their books... just imagine how much would be lost without books...

And in forgetting we open our minds to a wellspring of knowledge new yet old. For the old is renewed as each hour passes. The power of language is to make us think, and feel, to love or to hate. Where then can language takes us but to a higher plane of thought and emotion, or to debase ourselves in ruin and chaos. We are above all creatures and yet far more deadlier with our language.

I often wonder, why did humanity invent things like grammar? Is that necessary to speak? No. You could just say "fruit good, yummy, eat". But you could also talk half an hour about the richness of the taste of the fruit, about where you got it from or who gave it to you, whatever, the result isn't really different - the one you are talking to knows that its possible to eat it, whether you say fruit good or I really like the taste of the fruit
Why did we invent grammar? It's rather unnecessary and just complicates things needlessly; on the other hand it's also what gives a language a character.
I wonder what the first human thought when he used past tense or conditionnelII or something like that 🙂
... we don't have two sorts of each vowel, we just have only one letter two write down two or more different sounds 😄
Like, just look at all the "o"s in this sentence above... each one sounds different...
