Life as a Tusken: the Tale of Qua'Sharad Hett

NOTE: Do not write in this thread, PM for info or....whatever....

The following thread is the first of many Star Wars stories I will write, (though this is actually not even a story, its a summary). These stories take place from before KotOR, to twenty years after ROTJ. The story in this thread is called Life as a Tusken: the Tale of Qua'Sharad Hett.

The main character is named Qua'Sharad Hett (pronounced QUA-SHAR-AD HET). QUA is to be pronounced as in Quad.

OK, before we start there is a few things that I would like to say.
First up I did not create Star Wars or anything else related to it, George Lucas, Lucasfilm Ltd., Del Ray, Dark Horse, etc. did, I do not hold any rights to it either, only Mr. George Lucas and other companies holds it again. I am highly scared of lawyers and am looking forward to NOT to be sued. This is not the real “Star Wars: The Tale/Tales of”, nor is it actually a canon EU (Expanded Universe) story or tale, it is merely my creation, with some additional EU information. Now there you have it, enjoy.

Ratings: PG at first, and then it becomes more PG-13. Quite explicitly gore-filled, actually.

Prologue:
The Hetts

Sharad Hett:

Jedi Knight Sharad Hett was a famous Jedi during the Old Republic; he was known as the "Howlrunner," the "Champion of Krmar," the "Defender of Kamparus," the "Hound of Worlds," and the "Nemesis of the Kimm," Sharad was known to Jedi and non-Jedi alike. As a youth, Sharad came from a planet that sent many of its people to become Jedi Knights, bringing honor and pride to their families. Sharad's family beamed with pride when he was chosen to become a Jedi Knight. As a young man, Hett was selected to be the Padawan of the Zabrak Jedi Master, Eeth Koth, who was also a member of the Jedi Council. Aside from their student-teacher relationship, Sharad and Eeth both became friends as well. Together they became famous throughout the galaxy through a series of adventures and campaigns. However, Sharad had always felt a closeness to his family and frequented visits to them during periods of inactivity. However, the duties of a Jedi Knight and the violent affairs of the galaxy soon made visits less and less frequent, and eventually not at all. Because of his master's nature, as well as their history of affairs, Sharad and Eeth were continually sent to the most dangerous, malignant corners of the galaxy to preserve peace and justice. However, the longing Hett felt inside of him for want of his family. The feeling of emptiness plagued him until he eventually replaced with a sense of duty to the Jedi Knights and those in need. Thus, Hett's daring acts became the stuff that legends are made of, and Hett became renowned across the galaxy. However the deep feelings inside Hett always kept crawling back. Additionally, Hett was constantly met with accolades from his fellow Jedi Knights and their Padawans. However, Hett believed that such attention was opposite to the Jedi philosophy of selfless principles. Also, Hett found himself with much more power and influence in the Jedi Order due to such attention, and he felt that a thirst for such status would only lead to the Dark Side. Realizing he must take the situation into his own hands lest he walk that dark path, Hett resolved to discuss his worries with Master Koth, and the two eventually came up with the solution that Hett should take a leave of absence. Although Koth was distraught about the departure of his student, with approval from the Jedi Council, Hett and Koth parted ways with Hett feeling comforted by his Master's words. Resolving to return home to join his family, Hett sped off to the planet of his birth. However, once he arrived, Sharad learned that in his absence, a group of offworld rivals had attacked his homeworld and destroying every major city. Hett arrived to the news that his family was dead. Devastated with grief, Hett vowed to never return to Coruscant or the civilized galaxy and aimed his starship towards the Outer Rim.

Eventually, Hett crash-landed on the desert planet of Tatooine, and decided to live out his days as a hermit there. Wandering the deserts seeking answers, Hett lived off whatever scraps he could find. His Jedi skills were of great importance to help Sharad survive in the harsh wastelands. Sharad's survival skills gained the attention of the local Tusken Raiders. Confronted by them, Hett was taken captive by the Tuskens. Hoping that Sharad's blood would be compatible with that of the Tuskens, they adopted him in hopes of augmenting their ranks and gene pool. However, Hett's Jedi skills assisted him here as well as he used them to gain respect among the Tuskens, who lived an unforgiving, rigorous way of life. Rising through the ranks, Hett became favorable with the Raiders. They taught Hett the way of the Tusken and the way of the desert, and in return, Hett taught the Tuskens new ways of fighting. In time, Hett was made a full warrior of the tribe, and Sharad Hett became a Tusken. When Hett took his leave of absence and ultimately crashed on Tatooine, he wasn't seen or heard from by the Jedi Order and they presumed he had become one with the Force, the loss of a great Jedi. However, Hett was very much alive, living his life as a Tusken. Eventually, Hett married and produce an offspring with the female Tusken warrior, K'Sheek. Fathering a son, Hett named his firstborn A'Sharad Hett. However, when A'Sharad was still just a baby, his mother, Hett's wife, was lost in a desert storm, never to be seen again. With the loss of his wife, Hett was forced to raise his son on his own, and sensing A'Sharad's affinity in the Force, took it upon himself to raise him in the ways of the Jedi, as well as the ways of the Tusken. Fourteen years later, the Tusken were plagued by having their wells and food poisoned, as well as outright attacks against Tusken camps. With many Tusken dying, an investigation indicated that the Hutt crimelord, Jabba Desilijic Tiure, was behind an elaborate scheme to initiate a weapons smuggling operation on Tatooine. Hoping to insight the Tusken with such attacks, Jabba hoped the Tuskens would respond by attacking settlements, creating a market for out-dated weapons, which he was ready to supply. However, Hett rose to the unite the Tusken clans to lead them in a series of responsive assaults against Jabba's interests. Hett took control of the clans in order that he might control the Tuskens so they remained true to their objective of ending the attacks on their clans and not giving into their warlike nature. Unfortunately, during a few of their campaigns, a small number of farmers and settlers were caught in a cross fire that propagated into the belief that the Tuskens were out of control and on a rampage. It was not this that caught the attention of the Jedi Council, but the fact that the leader was seen with a lightsaber and did not show the typical pugnacious characteristics of other Tusken Raiders as he sought to protect innocents during his campaigns. The lightsaber of Sharad Hett could have been recognized by practically any Jedi born in the previous thirty years, and to the Council, if it was not Sharad Hett who had returned, at least his lightsaber had. But many held to the belief that Hett was indeed alive and allying himself with the Tusken Raiders on Tatooine. With the recent revelation that the Sith had returned, the Jedi Council feared Hett had become seduced by the Dark Side and might make a powerful weapon in the hands of the Sith. Obviously an investigation was needed. The most recent addition to the Jedi Council had had experience with Tatooine not long prior, and the task of seeking out this Tusken Jedi fell to the hands of Cerean Jedi Knight Ki-Adi-Mundi. However, the Jedi Council was not the only ones whose interests were piqued. The Jedi hunter Aurra Sing also soon learned of Hett's presence, and saw this as an opportunity to add two more Jedi lightsabers to her collection.

Although Ki-Adi-Mundi was sent to seek out Sharad Hett, it was Hett who discovered Ki-Adi-Mundi as he became under attack by a krayt dragon. Seeing this as a sort of test for Ki-Adi-Mundi, Sharad and the Tuskens watched as Ki battled against the huge monster. At first, Sharad was content to let Ki destroy or be destroyed by the dragon until he learned of who had sent Ki, Sharad's former master, Eeth Koth. It was at this point that Sharad joined in the fight with his son A'Sharad in order that Ki survive long enough to tell them who he was and what he knew. Together, Sharad Hett and A'Sharad Hett fought against the dragon together, as father and son. Sharad was adept enough to wound the dragon with his lightsaber, but this battle turned into his son's rite of passage, and armed with only the traditional Tusken weapon, the gaderffii stick, A'Sharad moved in for the deathblow. Armed with the Force as his ally, Sharad's son killed the krayt dragon and became a full warrior of the Tusken tribe. Back in the Tusken camp, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Sharad discussed why Ki had come, and the recent attacks on Tatooine settlements such as Anchorhead and Monchat Steep. Ki expressed his concerns over the deaths of settlers, farmers, and Jawa merchants, as well as the fact that Sharad Hett was at the head of it all. Ki's fears and concerns were soon allayed by Sharad as he told Ki of his past and his subsequent exile. Additionally, Sharad showed Ki-Adi-Mundi the Tusken grave site, where many Tuskens had recently been laid to rest due to the poisonings and attacks on the Tusken camps order by Jabba to instigate the Tuskens into attacking settlements and creating a desire for defenses by the settlers. Hett explained that the attack on Anchorhead was to weaken the area for staging attacks, and the Jawas they attacked were distributing black market weapons to be used against the Tuskens. When Ki realized that the Tuskens were only acting in defense of their safety which was threatened by a greedy crimelord, Ki resolved that there was no evil in Hett's heart and he was acting as a Jedi. Asking Hett to return with him, Hett inquired as to why, and it was at this point that Ki explained to Hett of the apparent return of the Sith and the death of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who Hett knew well. Ki tried to persuade Hett into returning him to assist the Jedi, as the Republic needed his help. But Hett reiterated that his homeworld was destroyed and his family dead. As a Jedi Knight he swore to protect all people to preserve justice and assist the oppressed. Hett resolved to stay on Tatooine to help his new family, the Tuskens who were being oppressed. Hett was soon needed however, as Aurra Sing had been following the Jedi throughout the deserts. Apparently, Aurra Sing was working for Gardulla the Hutt and informed her of the Tuskens location, to which Gardulla quickly sped with a small army. Gardulla was interested in beating down the Tuskens in order that she might sabotage Jabba's attempts at starting a weapon's smuggling ring. Gardulla would be able to put down the Tuskens, and Aurra would be able to murder the Jedi, as certain circumstances brought together the strangest of partners. Soon Sharad Hett and his tribe of Tuskens came under attack from Gardulla's army as well as Aurra Sing. Together, Sharad Hett, his son, A'Sharad, and Ki-Adi-Mundi fought side by side as Jedi Knights. However, before Sharad Hett could lead the Tuskens into battle, their instinctive rage took over and they charged forward to meet Gardulla's forces head on. However, the Tuskens had rarely encountered the powerful, hi-tech weapons that Gardulla's troops were armed with. Racing to unite the tribes, Hett split the warriors into two groups, one to draw fire while the other group flanked the attackers. While the battle was taking place, Aurra Sing got Ki-Adi-Mundi and A'Sharad Hett in her sights and took down A'Sharad's bantha, sending the two to seek cover from the unknown attacker. Sharad Hett and his Tusken warriors were soon able to overcome Gardulla's fleet as Jabba the Hutt arrived with his own fleet, having been informed of Gardulla's plans by Aurra Sing. As Gardulla's and Jabba's forces clashed, the Tuskens' part in the battle was over. However, on the battlefield, Sharad was hit in the shoulder by Aurra Sing's rifle, where she was hidden among the mountains. Moving into the kill, Aurra Sing moved in to finish the kill up close with her lightsaber. However, Hett met her saber to saber and the two were locked in battle among the wastes of Tatooine. But Aurra Sing had the Dark Side at her disposal and used it to gain the advantage. Showering Hett with stones, Aurra seized the opportunity when Hett was stunned to run him through with her lightsaber. Close to death, Aurra Sing was stopped by Sharad's son as he engaged her in battle and had a chance to kill her. But his father taught him well and Ki-Adi-Mundi warned A'Sharad of where his actions might take him. It was during this moment that A'Sharad chose the Light Side and Aurra Sing seized the opportunity to escape his grasp and disappear into the deserts of Tatooine. As he lay dying, Sharad asked of the condition of his tribe and unfortunately had to receive the news that many lay dead, Sharad's clan broken. Sharad asked what his son planned to do now that the clan was broken, and A'Sharad informed him that he would go with Ki-Adi-Mundi to continue his training and become a Jedi Knight. Sharad asked if Ki would accept his Padawan as his own and finish his training and Ki accepted it with honor. With a last goodbye to his son, Sharad passed him his lightsaber, telling him to use it for good and never for evil. Although Hett had barely known his family, he told A'Sharad that he was honored to know his son. With that, Sharad Hett, Jedi Knight, became one with the Force.

A'Sharad Hett:

A'Sharad Hett was a Jedi Knight around the time of the Battle of Naboo. Born to the exiled Jedi Knight and adopted Tusken Raider, Sharad Hett, and the Tusken warrior woman, K'Sheek, on Tatooine. Born into the harsh lifestyle of the Tusken Raiders, A'Sharad grew up in trying conditions. Although the Tusken Raider lifestyle was difficult, A'Sharad was brought up a true Tusken. When he was still very young, his mother was lost in a desert storm, never to be seen again, leaving Sharad to raise him by himself. At an early age, Sharad noticed his son's talent in the Force and began to train A'Sharad in the ways of the Force. A'Sharad proved to be adept at the lessons his father taught him and excelled quickly. Aside from being raised as a Jedi, A'Sharad was brought up in the typical Tusken tradition, which included his acquiring of his own bantha, the bond between Tusken and bantha quickly becoming very strong. When A'Sharad was about fifteen cycles old, many Tusken Raiders began to be come ill, and many died. Additionally, the different clans of Tuskens began to come under attack from various Tatooine forces without provocation. It was soon discovered that the Tuskens who were dying were doing so because of poisoned water and food reserves, as well as tainted toys that Tusken youths amused themselves with. This poisoning claimed the lives of many Tuskens and it was clear that action was needed. It was A'Sharad's father, Sharad Hett, Jedi Knight who discovered that the poisoning was due to orders by the Hutt crimelord, Jabba Desilijic Tiure.

The Tuskens called for war on the peoples of Tatooine, but Sharad, upholding the Jedi philosophy united the clans in a common effort to defend themselves against the perpetrators of the attacks, rather than innocent settlers and farmers. Sharad soon learned that the Jabba had planned to launch these attacks against the Tuskens to provoke them into attacking settlements, bolstering settlers want for arms to defend themselves against the Tuskens which would allow his weapons smuggling business to thrive. However, with A'Sharad's father leading the Tuskens, they attacked sites such as Anchorhead and Monchat Steep to weaken those sites as a staging area for more attacks against the Tuskens. A'Sharad went along with his father on these such raids, and although the two worked hard to make sure innocent settlers and farmers went unharmed, a few were caught in the crossfire and killed. Such turn of events created the hysteria among the people of Tatooine that they needed to protect themselves against the Tuskens and it seemed as if Jabba's scheme had worked after all. However, the raids revealed that the Tuskens were led by a Jedi, and this news soon reached all the way to Coruscant and the Jedi Temple. Having thought Sharad Hett had become one with the Force years earlier, they sent Jedi Knight Ki-Adi-Mundi to Tatooine to investigate the apparent return of the legendary Jedi Knight. A'Sharad and his father found Ki-Adi-Mundi wandering through the deserts of Tatooine after having escaped an ambush by Jabba the Hutt's henchmen in an attempt to locate A'Sharad's father. Finding him near the mouth of a cave about to be attacked by a krayt dragon, A'Sharad, his father, and the Tuskens stood back to see if Ki was worthy enough to warrant their counsel. During the ensuing clash however, A'Sharad and his father learned that Ki-Adi-Mundi had been sent by the Jedi Council, specifically by Sharad's former master, Eeth Koth.

When they learned of this, Sharad and A'Sharad realized that it was necessary Ki survive the battle and joined in to assist him. Realizing that this was a prime opportunity for A'Sharad to complete his rite of passage to become a warrior of the tribe, he sent his son into battle with the krayt dragon armed only with the Force and the traditional Tusken weapon, the gaderffii stick. A'Sharad proved more than capable and slew the dragon, there by completing his initiation rites. Taking Ki-Adi-Mundi back to their camp, A'Sharad's father explained to him of his past, what brought him to Tatooine, and the current situation with the Tusken clans. Ki-Adi-Mundi feared that Sharad Hett was walking a dark path by launching such raids against Tatooine settlements, but when Ki learned that the attacks were legitimate attempts to defend themselves from harm. This, accompanied by the gravesite of Tuskens Ki was shown led him to acknowledge the current plight of the Tuskens. With this, Ki resolved to assist Sharad, his son, and the Tuskens in their fight. However, the Jedi Council was not the only ones who were interested in the Tusken Jedi's apparent return. The Jedi hunter, Aurra Sing received the news as well and journeyed to Tatooine in hopes of slaying Sharad Hett and A'Sharad. Allying herself with Gardulla the Hutt, Aurra Sing followed the Tuskens and relayed their location to Gardulla when the time was right. Gardulla was interested in going to battle with the Tuskens in an attempt to foil Jabba's, her rival, smuggling ring. Aurra Sing hoped to use the battle that would ensue between Gardulla's forces and the Tusken raiders to seek out A'Sharad and his father and murder them. When the time was right, Gardulla launched her attack and proceeded to gather her forces. When the Tuskens learned of this, Sharad Hett feared his warriors would be no match against the advanced weaponry that Gardulla's forces would be equipped with. Heading into the valley where his forces were located, Sharad Hett split the forces into two groups, one to draw the attackers fire, and one to flank them. Ki-Adi-Mundi and A'Sharad watched the forces come together atop of A'Sharad's bantha on a cliff side.

It was at this point, with the diversion of the battle, that Aurra Sing got the two Jedi in her sights. However, Aurra Sing only managed to fire upon A'Sharad's bantha and killing it. The loss of a bantha affects a Tusken deeply as well as vice versa. However, both Ki and A'Sharad were forced to take cover from Aurra Sing's attack. Meanwhile, the battle was going poorly for Sharad and his Tuskens. Fighting bravely however they met Gardulla's forces head on until the female Hutt's troops were attacked from behind by forces of her rival, none other than Jabba the Hutt. Apparently, Aurra Sing had betrayed Gardulla to Jabba who subsequently came to protect his interests. Sharad Hett fought his way to the center of the battlefield breathing life into his troops, and it was at this point that Aurra Sing took her shot. Wounding A'Sharad's father in the soldier, she drew near him to personally finish the kill. But a single shot was not enough to take down A'Sharad's famous father and he and Aurra Sing soon became locked in a fierce lightsaber battle. But Aurra Sing was armed with the Dark Side of the Force, and when a shower of stones stunned Sharad Hett, Aurra Sing seized the opportunity to pierce his torso, a wound that would eventually claim his life. Before Aurra Sing could deliver another, final blow, A'Sharad confronted her and overpowered her, presenting him with an opportunity to avenge his father who would die a few moments later. However, Ki-Adi-Mundi reminded him of the ways of the Jedi and that vengeance was of the Dark Side. It was at this moment of choice, where A'Sharad chose the Light Side that Aurra Sing managed to escape from him. Going to his dying father, A'Sharad was presented with his father's lightsaber. Before he passed into the Force, Sharad asked Ki-Adi-Mundi if he would take A'Sharad as his Padawan and continue his training. Ki expressed the honor he felt by such an opportunity and as Sharad passed away, he expressed his feelings to A'Sharad that it was an honor to have known his son. With his clan decimated, A'Sharad agreed to return to Coruscant with Ki-Adi-Mundi and continue his Jedi training.

On Coruscant, A'Sharad was introduced to many renowned Jedi Knights and Masters and received an opportunity to learn from many Jedi teachers just as famous. One of those teachers, most notably, was the Jedi Knight known only as "The Dark Woman." Always the teacher, during a sparring session with A'Sharad, the Dark Woman tried to draw anger from the Tusken Jedi, insulting him and trying to instill fear in him. However, the Tusken Jedi remained true to the Light and passed The Dark Woman's test. At the Jedi Temple at Coruscant, Ki was constantly pleased with A'Sharad's performance, and soon the two were asked to accompany a few members of the Jedi Council on an important mission. The Red Iaro, a terrorist organization operating to terrorize the government system of their homeworld of Lannik. Jedi Master and Council member Even Piell knew of the conflict well, as he had the scars that testified to his past encounters with them. However, now it seemed that the Red Iaro had declared a stalemate and were wishing to hold peace discussions on a neutral planet. The planet that was decided on was the planet of Malastare, and the Gran governors there agreed to host the peace talks. Even on neutral grounds, strong diplomatic hands were required to keep things in order, and the Republic Judicial Department asked the Jedi to oversee the talks and act as arbitrators between the Lannik government and the Red Iaro terrorists. Six Jedi were needed to attend the mission and Ki-Adi-Mundi volunteered himself to go. Additionally, Jedi Masters Mace Windu, Yaddle, Adi Gallia, Plo Koon, and especially Even Piell volunteered to go as well. Ki-Adi-Mundi eventually gained permission to take A'Sharad along on the mission as well to introduce him to the idea of the types of assignments Jedi conducted. The Jedi arrived to the planet famous for it's podracing and Ki was pleased with that fact that he could use this mission as a teaching tool for A'Sharad. However, even before the talks could get started, the Jedi sensed something was wrong in the halls of the palace on Malastare and were alarmed to find they came under attack by two cloaked figures who subsequently ran away. The guards seemed to be clueless as to what was going on and the Jedi realized that they needed to be wary of danger. All their dangers senses screaming at them, the Jedi became even more concerned when, while waiting for the meetings to start, A'Sharad was attacked by the hall's Gamorrean guards.

Although Jedi Master Yaddle was able to disperse them with a simple mind control, the Jedi knew something was not right. As both sides of the Lannik negotiations were introduced, the meeting hall was filled with a tense air, caused by words said, unsaid, and Even Piell's violent history with the Red Iaro terrorists. A'Sharad expressed his concerns that his danger sense was indicating impending disaster. The other Jedi Masters feeling it as well they were very cautious at the course of events. The talks between the Lannik government and the Red Iaro were marked by consistent fighting and heated arguments, and when the Jedi tried to mediate, both sides only expressed disgust at their presence. With the Jedi insisting that the meeting be adjourned for the day, they departed in shuttles with the Lannik government delegates. However, during the taxi ride, the delegates revealed themselves to have aligned with the Red Iaro, feeling it was the only way to save their homeworld, and resolved to blow themselves up, taking the Jedi with them. While the terrorists on A'Sharad's taxi were distracted by the battle that took place on the other taxi between the Jedi and the terrorists, he and the Jedi used the opportunity to pitch them over the side to the far street below. However, the Jedi of the next taxi were forced to bail out and hung for dear life on a tether attached to a podracer participating in the planet's races. A'Sharad took the wheel of his taxi and piloted it as Ki-Adi-Mundi, Yaddle, and Plo Koon rescued Even Piell, Mace Windu, and Adi Gallia. Still wanting to preserve peace on Malastare and with the Lannik, the Jedi returned to the palace to confront the traitors. Crashing the taxi through a window, A'Sharad and the Jedi arrived just in time to save the Prince of Lannik from being murdered by the Red Iaro. Fighting along side Ki-Adi-Mundi, A'Sharad fought many terrorists and Akk dogs as the Jedi soon brought the room to a standstill. Soon it all became clear. A Ffib priest allied himself with the Red Iaro who had allied themselves with the Gran rulers of Malastare. Hoping to exploit Lannik's resources, the Gran needed the power shifted to the Red Iaro. The Gran hoped to lure the Jedi to Malastare, kill them, and frame the Prince of Lannik for their deaths, which would allow the Red Iaro to take control of the planet. However, when the Red Iaro and Ffib priest were discovered, the Gran feigned ignorance. In his attempt to escape the leader of the Red Iaro was killed and the Jedi took the Ffib priest into custody. With the threat on Malastare as well as Lannik finally over, A'Sharad, his master, Ki, and the Jedi returned to Coruscant.

A'Sharad Hett was called for a mission once more when the threat of Aurra Sing reached the very Temple of the Jedi. Two Knights slain, the Council realized that the Jedi hunter was a more serious threat than previously to be believed. Questioning her motives, the Jedi soon received answers from the woman who used to be Aurra Sing's master, none other that the Dark Woman. Although she was able to answer questions about Aurra's past, the Dark Woman was forbidden to be a part of the mission that sought her out. Ki-Adi-Mundi volunteered, as well as A'Sharad. The Council expressed some concerns over A'Sharad being a member of the mission, but he assured them that his motives were not clouded with revenge. Approving the mission, Jedi Master Adi Gallia was commissioned to go with them as well. It just so happened that Aurra Sing had been hired to collect a bounty offered by a couple of exiled Quarren citizens, who blamed the Dark Woman for one of the Quarren's disfigurement. Tracking the Dark Woman to her planet of solitude, A'Sharad, Ki, and Adi Gallia were hot on her trail as well. The Jedi engaged Aurra Sing in space, ordering her to turn herself over to the Jedi. However, Aurra got the jump on the trio and forced them to eject in an escape pod as she destroyed their ship. Thinking the Jedi dead, Aurra Sing left, leaving the Jedi to be picked up by a Mon Calamari ship that arrived in the system shortly after. Turning out to be a Quarren diplomatic ship, the Quarren senator received the Jedi well. Curious about the Senator's business in the system, A'Sharad and the Jedi remained on the ship to keep an eye on the Senator as he finished his business, as they felt Aurra Sing was somehow involved. On the planet below was the Dark Woman, for she came to the planet often to seek out solitude. It was here that Aurra Sing had tracked her and joined her on the surface below. Not getting in the Quarrens' way, the Jedi let them proceed with their plans as they made their way to the planet below. The Quarren intended to survey the planet below for mining prospects, although they kept this information from the Jedi acting as if by coincidence they found precious minerals when they landed. Feeling something wasn't right, A'Sharad, Ki and Adi proceed with caution as the forests below were scouted out. Discovering the Dark Woman's presence was not a surprise to A'Sharad or the Jedi, but the Quarren soon fell into Aurra Sing's trap. It was here when Aurra Sing launched her attack against the A'Sharad and the Jedi. However, the Quarren were equipped with formidable defenses as they defended themselves against Sing. Using the Force, Adi Gallia smashed Aurra Sing with a boulder and into the ground.

Expressing his wish to go and seek out Sing for good, A'Sharad was sternly ordered by Ki-Adi-Mundi to help get the wounded Quarren into the ship instead. As he did so, Ki went and searched for the Dark Woman, while Adi went deeper into the forest in attempt to locate Sing, but instead only finding her deadly traps. However, aboard the ship, the Quarrens pressured A'Sharad to start the ship and leave the danger behind. However, not willing to abandon his master and the other Knights, A'Sharad did not let the Quarrens leave. Additionally, A'Sharad noticed that the ship had been infiltrated by Sing as well. Meeting her face to face once more, A'Sharad drew his lightsaber in preparation of the oncoming battle. Also, Hett fought with the lightsaber passed down to him by his father. But even with two lightsabers, Aurra Sing seemed to be able to press her attack. It wasn't until A'Sharad gave into his anger that he seemed to be able to counter her attacks, but even then she was able to knock him to the floor. When Sing thought that she had A'Sharad at his weakest moment, he surprised he by striking her across the face with a metal pipe, leaving her unconscious. As Ki returned with the Dark Woman and a wounded Adi Gallia, A'Sharad dumped Sing's body in the brush outside the ship. Ki was impressed that A'Sharad was able to defeat her, but Hett was not. He explained he had given into his anger and felt a darkness within him like none other he felt before. Requesting that he be freed of his status as a Padawan, he resolved to return to the deserts of Tatooine. However, the Dark Woman explained that everyone has a darkness inside and she has experienced darkness before. With Ki's permission and A'Sharad's interest, the Dark Woman offered to become his teacher and take on Ki's role. A'Sharad agreed that he would not abandon his Jedi training and agreed to learn with the Dark Woman. When a meteor showed threatened the Jedi and the Quarren they quickly left the planet behind, as well as Aurra Sing. They didn't know if they would ever see her again, but A'Sharad left with a new understanding of the Force, one of the many stages of growth for a Jedi Knight.

It turns out that A'Sharad Hett's mother, K'Sheek, was actually a human, a prisoner taken from an early age and made to think she was a Tusken.

What is not told in the above, is that during the Clone Wars, A'Sharad Hett returned to his people, the Tusken Raiders of the Tatooine Dune Sea, descendants of the the once enslaved Ghorfas.
There, he saw what disarray his people were in. He saw the dead of all the Tuskens that Anakin Skywalker had killed. A'Sharad was just glad that they were not his once tribe-mates.
He finally returned to his tribe, where he met a young female human, who, like his mother, had been taken prisoner from early in her life, and taught to believe she was indeed a Tusken.
A'Sharad had met her long before, and at that time, his father Sharad had declared to the tribe that in full Tusken honors, his firstborn (and only born?), and the female, D'Esak, were to be betrothed in full Tusken tradition.
