I have always wondered whether we have an actual purpose to be here. When I think of it, we make life better, or maybe worse (depending on what you believe), for the next generation. But why? Why actually are we put through love, hate, life and death? Is there really a reason? I suppose the reason of this thread to ask you guys what you think the point of life is........? And why we are put through so much, for nothing.

We are God's children. Nothing more-nothing less. A microcosm of creation in the grand scheme.

...to experience all that we possibly can before we truly "go home".

...at least that's how I see it anyway.

Good (deep) thread.

We are more then we are led to believe.

I was reading some science book about the numbers of nature or something...cool, but almost scary they have determined parallel universes and spacetime and time travel theories and different states of universal existance from numbers. Makes each person seem very small and pointless. I dont think its right to follow things directly according to something like that because there is somethign more than that.

iHi, I"m a new member. Nice to meet you all. I like your discussian. 🙂 🙂

Hey nice to meet you, good thread to post an introduction too...so who do you think we are?

Things such as this are too perfect to be an accident.
It is not accident! It is managing by Great Power in His purpose!
Be said: Against your will you are born, against your will do you live, and against your will you die. Who knows what we have to do to become perfect and rich this Goal? Can anybody answer me?

I believe there is no point to life.

Become perfect? Reach what goal exactly? The problem is humans think to much, most are weak and need some sort of faith/ purpose to carry on living life. We think that there is some grand scheme, purpose or goal to all of this but in reality we are born, live and die and our over active brains constantly ask the question why.

Who are we?

At the very least...

"We are a way for the cosmos to know itself."

Who are we?

I am he as you are he as you are me
and we are all together

i myself have wondered this...and have yet to come up with an answer. *sits and contemplates*

it's a dismal thought, all this for nothing....

To Magge.

I found very interesting book, in which autor explaines Who we are. The book is "Complete Idiot's Guide to Kabbalah" by M.Laitman. It is brand new book avalable in big stores.

ah carl sagan...

If we know how to love one another
then it won't really matter at all
Who we are.

the only purpose that your life has is one you choose{or is chosen for you by people around you who can control or influence you} to impose on it.

having said that, looking from the perspective of the concepts that we embody and have potential for{i.e. self awareness, ego, love, hate, curiosity, desire}, the world is a potentially wonderful place with infinite possibilities and tons of relevant purpose and meaning which can be imposed on it.

its nothing to be sad about. usually people who feal they lack purpose are people with little human interaction or love around them, which makes them feal empty, this causes them to try to fill the void by trying to find sumthing that makes them forcibly follow a path.

we should infact be happy that we are not confined by an inborn PURPOSE, and make the most of life in ways which makes US feal the best. and those around us.

gods.... teehee

I just want you to think (think). Think and when you are done thinking, think some more. Things of this sophistication and complexity, design, order, mathematically, scientifically, and coincidentally don't just happen.

Consciousness

Morality

Complex life

Complex language and communication

Order

Design

Laws

Intelligence

Rationality

Logic

Information

Organization

Mathematics

Science

The Brain

Instinct

Thought

Reason

Will

Intent

Not one of these is capable of arising by undirected, unplanned, undesigned, unintelligent, chance--from a violent explosion that happened for no reason or purpose.

Think.

What do explosions normally produce? No matter how many explosions are conducted the result will be the same.

Think.

Has there ever been an exception?

Think.

Why do organisms fight to survive? Why is there this need or tendency?

Think.

Why is life a reality instead of unreality? In other words, there is no reason to exist. So then why do we exist?

Think.

All this energy expended for life to exist and for what reason? Why? Why do we exist? What is in it for the universe? What does the universe get out of it?

Think.

All of this controversy, energy, discussion, time, effort, money, research, study, and education, trying to figure out how and why we exist--and for what? Why the need to be here as opposed to oblivion?

Does the universe have a will? Did it just have to exist? Did it just want to exist? Again, why? What is the reason or purpose? Why did an explosion occur in the first place?

Think.

Think about this: if everyone stopped believing in god, would god cease to exist?

if you believe in collective unconsciousness then its very hard to believe that we are an "accident". there is a purpose to us all. we may not understand it but there is one.

we're getting there. a few years ago there was a site that showed the numbers of theists and atheists. there were 2.1 billion christians, 1.2 billiom muslims and 1.1 billion atheists/agnostics.

Groovy.
