Chapter 1
Brooke was scared. No doubt about that. She was 20 and it was her first day at uni. She just didn’t fit in. not in nursery, primary school, secondary school, and she could tell she wouldn’t going to at uni. As she stood at the door she felt increasingly sick. “C’mon Brooke you can do this” she told herself. She walked down the long corridor, but didn’t notice the stiletto heel poked out to trip her up. She buckled, and fell……right into the arms of a man.
“Whoops! Careful honey or you’ll do yourself an injury.”
Brooke stared up at the man who had caught her. He had beautiful cheekbones, dark brown eyes…he was gorgeous!
“Hi. I’m Orlando.”
“Uuh…I’m Brooke.”
“Nice to meet you Brooke…ill probably see you again sometime.”
“Uum. Yeah, of course. See you around.”
Orlando gave a chuckle. She was cute. The girl who had tripped her up now walked over.
“Eugh…I can’t believe you think you have a chance with Orlando. You can tell he has no feelings for you whatsoever…I think you should just leave him alone.”
“Get lost”
The next day, Brooke was sitting in her favourite coffee shop when Orlando walked in with a group of his friends. He said something to one of them and then walked over to Brooke.
“Anyone sitting here?”
“Nope”
He sat down…she couldn’t believe it. They talked for hours. About what she liked, what he liked, their futures…
Orlando poked his head round the door.
“You up yet sweetie?”
Brooke groaned. “Get lost!!!”
He laughed. “I’ll take that as a no then!”
She suddenly realized where she was…
Oh my god what the hell am I doing here? This is Orlando’s house!! Uuh…oooh
All the memories from last night had come back to her. She had slept with Orlando!!!
When they got to uni, she tried acting as if nothing had happened, but could tell that he had told his friends all about it by the way they were looking at her. Whitney, the girl who had tripped her up on the first day, didn’t know yet, and Brooke wasn’t going to make it easy for her.
“Orlando, Orlando!! Honey…”
“Hey what’s up babe?”
“Please…don’t tell Whitney about last night.”
“But why?”
“Because she hates me…and obviously fancies you”
He laughed…and she became weak at the knees.
“Ok babe…don’t worry, but I can’t guarantee one of my mates hasn’t already told her.”
“Ok…thanks”
She spotted Whitney with a group of her friends in the classroom, giving her dirty looks and looking disgusted at the fact she was even breathing the same air as Orlando. Then something happened that she never thought she would get out of alive. He pulled her towards him and kissed her in the middle of the corridor.
“See you later honey…Starbucks at 4, ok?”
“Uuh yeah sure. Bye babe.”
He walked off, leaving Brooke stunned and unable to speak. His smooth, muscled arms…maybe this was the guy for her. It had all happened so quickly, but she still wouldn’t get her hopes up. He was gorgeous, talented (she had seen him in drama lessons), and sweet. He couldn’t have fallen for her the way she had fallen for him...
Chapter 2
She was suddenly jerked out of her daydream by the school bell, and started to walk to class, avoiding Whitney’s horrified stare. She knew she couldn’t avoid her forever, but she tried putting it off until it was absolutely necessary. At least she had drama with Orlando next, but after that it was chemistry, where it would be extremely hard to get away from Whitney.
“To be or not to be…that is the question.”
Brooke sighed. She had a feeling that he was born to be an actor. She could imagine it now. Thousands of teenage fans, screaming and sticking pictures of him to their lockers. She smiled thinking about it, but also felt a pang of jealousy, knowing how many girls already loved him.
The bell. Uh oh. Drama was over and Brooke knew she would have to face Whitney. She tried not thinking about it as she started chatting to a few of Orlando’s friends.
Meanwhile Orlando was back in class, getting his books ready for English.
“Orli!! Hiya! Long time no see huh? How’s things?” Whitney had switched into sugary sweet mode.
“Oh, hi Whitney. Listen, I’m a bit busy right now, so…” he tried dropping a hint, because he really didn’t want to speak to her.
“No…really. I’m sure you can spend some time chatting. C’mon! We used to be mates!”
She slipped up onto the table and crossed her legs, making sure her mini skirt flashed as much thigh as possible.
“Seriously, I'm really busy.” Oops, he had triggered her. She glanced around to check if no one could hear, but after making sure everyone was out of earshot, she flipped.
“LISTEN YOU JERK! My reputation is COMPLETELY ruined now you slept with that crappy excuse for a girl.
“Whit…we’re just screwing around. It’s not like I’m in love with her or anything.”
He put his arm round her.
“Look…if it means that much to you.”
He led her out into the corridor and kissed her just the way he had done with Brooke.
“Right, that’s cleared that up then,” Whitney's reaction was completely opposite to Brooke’s. No speechlessness, no weak knees, not even a pause at the beginning of the sentence.
“Oh, and just so you don’t develop feelings for her, if I see you talking to her again…her life is a living hell.”
She walked off, leaving the younger boys drooling behind her. Orlando sighed. He couldn’t help feeling something more than friendship for Brooke, but he knew he didn’t have a choice anymore.
