Iceman is good stuff now he can become human again. I think they really messed him up since the newest X-Men series (Havok team leader) and they wrote him as a big jerk, maybe this'll change some things.
Just off the top of my head... its highly unlikey bobby would ever lose his powers, the majority of the 198 are the main lot of Xmen these days... just count the active ones and you'll get roughly 19 and that includes Northstar and Jean... then plus the new Xmen (stupid kids)... plus X-factor... etc ... and a few mentioned in the press release from the writer... you'll get a number about under 60. I'm not doing the full math, but you get the picture... there is still a lot of room for bobby.
All house of M has done is wiped a lot of the excess mutants away that we've never seen and concentrating on the main mutants for now. Marvel wanna make it a more dangerous place for mutants by making them a significant minority. Joe Q said that mutants that have lost their powers will never get them back while he is still EIC.
I was just thinking, the main awesomeness about Xmen in the early days was when they fought other evil mutants, with the 198 "Banding together" who the hell are the Xmen gonna fight. Other than Maggers going evil again, Xmen will be left with
A) angry humans - who are so lame, the Xmen can't unleash their cool powers on
B) space aliens.... again.... and again.... its old now
C) Umen.... they could work tho.... but Xmen isn't as "dark" as it was during the "realistic combat" suits
actually, the 198 was addressed as a group separate from the "A-listers" in an interview with david hine. and bobby DOES appear to have lost his powers, so there goes that whole sentence. also, most of the kids from the new x-men: academy x series will have lost their powers, and be kicked out of the spotlight. by your logic, that makes even MORE room for bobby, though it still appears as though he's lost his powers, so this speculation really is pointless...

so what your saying is... there are more than 198 mutants, am I correct?
I take it, it appears that Bobby has lost his powers in HOM #8? have you got any scans so I can hit my head against a wall?

hine made it seem as if there will be more than 198 mutants left post-HoM, yes. and i didn't buy HoM #8, but while all the other kids are panicking in the halls and sofia's unconscious and that hubbub is going on, bobby comes out (in human form) soaking wet saying he's having trouble with his powers. unless my very out-of-left-field theory about him just being hydrokinetic is correct, he may very well be powerless.

I actually thought a few others were different as well. Rouge for instance, she wasn't that young. And neither was Bobby but whatever. For movies they have to change things to make the story different a little bit . The writers have to let the story flow their way .
ok just to upadte people on Iceman...
Iceman gained his powers back after apparently losing them due to HoM, after Emma Frost reconnected his brain synapses... The cause for Bobby's loss of powers was due to Bobby repressing his powers after believing everyone was losing their powers too.
Bobby's powers were initially freezing to the touch and seemed to act like liquid nitrogen to a person's touch (bad for that person) however since Bobby has reverted to his human form, no further instance as come up where touching Bobby has led to an icey death.
Also Bobby's "new" iceform is a lot more interesting... His hair now also freezes but also he has lots of ice spikes jutting out from his hair on his shoulders and down his back. which resembles a more Age of Apocalypse look.
Next up Apocalypse comes back. Bobby failed stop Lorna from leaving the Xmen and let Havok go off with his girl (by his I mean Bobby's). Lorna comes back as one of the four horsemen and theres a big ol fight and the xmen take them all down pathetically easily... Apocalypse is getting weak in his old age hehehe.
Still Bobby isn't treated as a power player, getting floored rather easily... repeatedly.
Now we must all eagerly await the brand new writing and art change over, and will we witness a more powerful and leaderlike Iceman?
