Brotherhood of the Wolf , great flick if you havent seen it. Its a mixture of monster, serial killer, marital art/action, set in the 1700's!

I have seen the movie and thought it was bad ass. You forget at times that the movie is dubbed. The fight seens were some of the best..

How about this......

A story set over 3 films where a male comes to terms with his religious identity as he grows up. With lots of killings and freaky goings on along the way until he is killed at the end of the last film.

Certainly, there was even a very poor 4th made which isn't sold with the original trilogy cus its crap. Sort of the bastard child that nobody talks about and lives in the cellar. Errr sorry, got a bit carried away then.
