Thats because I dont know for sure it was real but it doesnt seem to far-fetched to think its not I mean all it was was a guy coming at the police men then it ended 😬

You know me, lol. 🤓

There's just a big difference between stating a fact as a fact, and stating something as a matter of opinion, soley based on what it "appeared" to be.

The keyword in the movie's disclaimer, "based", alone tells you the footage wasn't real. On top of that, the police footage would have been shot with a "Super 8", 8 mm handheld video camera, the same camera the original TCM was shot with. The footage shown at the beginning of the movie boasted the quality of that of digital video, with a grainy, superimposed "worn" filter, to make it look real.

Trust me, I can be as analytical as I have to be to get people to realize this is all a hoax.

the first one was hilarious. It was retarded. I enjoyed the killings in the new version.

😈 😈 😕 🤺 🤪 ✅ 🤨 🏴‍☠️ 🤘 🤘

Hilarious = retarded? For TCM? Cine-man, you want to take this one?

Also, I'm a big proponent of expressing thoughts and ideas through words instead of smilies, but this last post above this one confused the hell outta me.

Kid's got me confused on this on this one, so I can't exactly say what I am feeling.

There wasn't anything funny about the movie. The only laughter I think this movie could produce would be nervous laughter, just because the more you get into the movie, mentally, the more and more realistic it comes across.

Not that such a family exists, knowing this movie is loosely based on real events, it's just Tobe Hooper's presentation of the situation and characters that seems like an average day gone wrong, just by making a "Wrong Turn". Pun intended.

It's just a bare bones, spooky horror movie that maintains a real sense of urgency and realism throughout the whole movie, and doesn't need special effects, scary backdrops, or creepy background music to heighten the mood.

As for the 2003 TCM, in comparison, it's a very dramatic, easy going, and simplsitic rehash of the original. There was no tension, as the kids were just conveniently picked off. It was fully of jump scares to make up for the lack of creepiness rooted in realism embodied by the original.

There is no redeeming qualities to the remake, IMO. Other than Jessica Biel showing that she really can act, and had "Scream Queen" movies not died out in the 80's, along with JLC's horror movie career, Biel would wear the crown with credibility.

I know she screamed alot 😖

I know now the TCM is complete fabrication, it was so long ago when I saw the original, but I'm sure it was hyped to be a true story. But I was very young and beleived anything at the time. I saw a Documetary the other night about the real TCM and it has no comparisons to the movies, apart from someone killed someone else in Texas.

yeah but thats hollywood for ya 😉

..and how do you know it's going to please people until you put it out there? You don't. I'd tread lightly if I were you, praising movies like "POTC", while shitting on the original "TCM", in a Horror forum of all places.

I thought she was talking about the remake 😕
