One of the kids in my classes pulled this. I was giving them their assignment, and this particular kid was busy writing and passing a note. What I said was you need to write a persuasive speech thats 5 minutes in length. Now I said 5 minutes in length no fewer than 3 times. And no less than 30 seconds after I said it for the final time this kid raised her hand and said,
"How long does it have to be?" blowup
