That picture really doesn't do justice to the character of the show, though. It's really quite amusing, which makes it somewhat difficult to compare to Bebop. In the end, I'm gonna have to say that I like Outlaw Star more, simply because Gene is so laughably rational. He does stuff that makes sense at the time, and is one of the very few characters without some deep scarring past, minus his father dying. Very minor, in the grand scheme of things. Technically, one could say that it is his father's death that sets him against the McDougall brothers and thus starts his quest towards the layline... but that might be a little forced. Either way, Outlaw Star is hilarious. And the assassins are WAY cooler than the Trigun ones - no real cop-outs like the little kid and the guy shooting spikes. (Except maybe the disguise guy, but the hot springs episode was really a joke.)
