need help with a song title

alright all, i have been trying to find out the title of this certain song for some time. So i decided why not try the communityat KMC. If you know the song you'll know what im talking about. It is being played on alot of classic rock stations but i believe it was currently redone. the lyrics go

"and we'd go down by the river, and into the river we'd dive"

I think it's by the clarks but not sure, well thanks

I did a search.. 'The River' by Bruce Springsteen ..is what it seems to be, unless there was a cover

i was wondering...since these threads always pop up...why the hell dont we create a "whats the name of this song" thread where if someone is having a problem identifying a song we can just post it there instead of having it scattered...that way we wont have more of these threads and itll be more efficient...so how about it?
