Now this is were I think Ultimate Venom/Eddie is cool. There not making him a carbon copy of main Eddie/Venom. I think Ultimate Eddie's story was better then the regular one. The battle, and Eddie becoming Venom made more dramatic because he was Peters friend, and with the Ultimate Spider-Man game coming out he should be called or called Venom or when he comes back for round two.
I love Ultimate Spidey. It's my favorite Spider-Man title by far.
It has so many great moments, and so many great twists on classic Marvel lore. I loved it when Kong deduced that Spider-Man=Peter, and when Peter told MJ he was Spidey. Spidey's first full fight with the Kingpin was actually the first time that I've LOL at a Spidey comic in two years.
I also thought Spidey giving a pep talk to the Human Torch was cool--especially since Spidey isn't used to being looked up to.
Doc Ock is the best USM villain. Period. He's smart, and he's sadistic (remember when he performed a little impromptu dentistry on Peter?)--and he's not addicted to Twinkies like his 616 version. All in all, he's a beast.
Still, some moments have irked me:
Gwens death I feel was a waste. She was supposed to be Spidey's one,true love in the 616, but she died, and Peter grew close to MJ. Since anything goes in the Ultimate U, why couldn't it have been MJ that gets Slurpee'd by Carnage?
It would've been a great moment and a HUGE twist, and it would've further set USM apart from his 616 counterpart.
Bagley's art is always stellar, and Bendis' writing is great--when he's not blatantly padding the stories with dialogue so they can be collected in a trade (ie this arc).
I for one am glad that they made Harry the Hobgoblin. It makes a lot of sense, it explains why Norman had him in hypnotherapy, and it's a LOT better than having Harry use the OZ on himself and becoming GG II.
Also: Did you guys notice the GG masks in Harry's safe house? It had The 616,movie, and Ultimate versions of the Goblin's face. Niiice.
We're also left with some questions about this new arc:
1)Why doesn't SHIELD know that the bald guy(his name esxapes me at the moment) exists? Is he in Harry's head? Is he a mutant (poss. Liz's Uncle??)
2)Why does Harry want Peter to kill him so badly?
I'm looking forward to the next 75 issues of Spidey.

Just my interpretations and I will probably be proven wrong next issue:
1) I thought Mr. Shaw was just in Harry's head (Harvey!) and he was hallucinating the trip to the bunker or whatever. Remember Dr. Warren's attempted warning on the psychological ramifications of the hypnotherapy?
SHIELD never detected Harry's mutation since he (presumably) never used his powers after first being affected by the Oz explosion and for whatever reason SHIELD cannot detect mutants / illegal unnatural genetic mutations unless they "power up."
Oh and I figured "Liz's Uncle" was in reference to the Moltenman (who is her stepbrother or some such in the mainstream universe.)
2) He's insane, and he just mutated into a monster like his father.
Also, if Harry had this goblin power from the beginning then he might have some surpressed guilt issues that he could have saved his mother from his father. Look how many memories he's been made to repress-- it's amazing he seems as cognizant as he does now. 😱

Yeah, my guess is that he's in Harry's head also.
IDK if Moltenman is going to be the same in the Ultimate continuity, plus people keep saying her uncle is a mutant, not her stepbrother so he could be anybody--mebbe even a mutant whos already made their Ultimate debut. I'm guessing he's already a criminal because she seems to feel bad/embarassed/or hate him. So he might be the MM in this uni too,but then again he might not be. I'm still hoping that he'll turn out to be someone cooler than the MM.
Yeah, the guilt thing could work(I was thinking that myself) but it seems too...easy. Time will tell if you're right.

Dude, did you ever see those old Hostess ads? Ock was giving up for Twinkies and Fruit Pies! Not to mention the fact that he started eating to ease the pain of Aunt May giving him the heave-ho.
I love how he can control his harness thru telepathy now, you remember in Ultimate Six when he explained that and COMPLETELY f'ed the scientists up with the tendrils? Also, in the Hollywood arc when the cops thought it was him coming out of the tunnel--but he had actually kidnapped that cab driver and was making his getaway? Genius,pure genius.
