I think you're right. They were originally "Blink" but another band with the same name got pissed and threatened to sue so they added in the "182". I dont think it has any meaning to it

i mean they are the bomb..... i may listen to any type of music even metal (disturbed, slpinkot, sentenced, dark tranquility and shit) but in the end my ears and mind seek that liveliness of Travis, Tom and MArk to make the day complete 😄
