as a simpsons fan from day one, it pains me to say this, but the simpsons shoulda ended long ago. its a shame the show didnt go out on top, its gone downhill so horribly since its prime.... oh well... i always got the reruns. hopefully the show will end soon before it goes downhill even more and actually becomes bad, which its very close to doing.
I don't think it's gone to hell, and I don't think they'll ever run out of ideas. the funniness of the show is that it can make fun of EVERYTHING about society today, and ideas about THAT just keep coming.
However, I do think they'll be ending it soon, and personally, I don't know what they could make a movie about that couldn't be done in any episode.
It's not like the X-Files with a story mythos.
Anyway, I'd see it, and I'm sure it would be damn hilarious, I'm just saying the show hasn't lost it's touch.

no the show hasnt gone to hell, but i dont think its debatable that the show isnt nearly as good as it used to be. its gone downhill. and if you want a show that makes fun of society you have to turn to southpark. the thing that set it apart was that it would have hilarious and very brutal laughs at the expense of pretty much everything, but it would also be very heartfelt and touching. the show hasnt been touching for quite some time. matt groening seems to have also changed his idea that he wanted you to forget that you were watching a cartoon, that was his goal at first, but now, with so little humanity and emotion in the simpsons current episodes, you cant help but remember its a cartoon.
