I stick by my opinion that you wouldn't know good rock if it bit you in the ass,you don't realize that Nirvana was one of the most influential bands of the 90's.So,**** you and have a nice day.

influential and good are 2 seperate things....ppl forget that alot now, Nirvana were influential..sure, no1 denies that. But compared to AIC and Pearl Jam they were NOTHING special, bordering on bad.

Kurt cobain was average on guitar, nothing particularly special either lyrically or vocally, but had the right idea at the right time...

Pearl Jam shit all over them for talent, and musical quality, same with AIC.

Some people just can't appreciate Kurt's style.

I think most of us can agree that while Kurt wasn't a very good guitarist, he could write quite well.

Actually that couldn't be further from the truth ^

Anyway here's my view: Nirvana were a good band who despite not being extra-special, managed to capture the attention of the many jaded rock fans bored out of their minds by the 80's music scene. They wrote one extraodinary album, but very little else, and were catapulted into immortality because of Kurt's suicide.

I also believe that Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Soundgarden and the mighty Alice In Chains were far superior to Nirvana, however, regardless of that, they have and always will be one of the most influential bands of all time, certainly more influential than any of the before mentioned bands, and for that they deserve nothing less than respect. I didn't like them that much, but I respect them, because thats what they deserve.

By Kurt's style,I meant that i think Nirvana was music that you either got it and loved it,or you didn't get it and hated it.

I love Nirvana and have the upmost respect for all involved in their creation (Kurt, Krist, Dave, Chad and Dave), i don't mind people disputing the greatness of a band - but they should have some argument to back their claims up, everyone to their own though.

so in the end weve decided that Nirvana are to Grunge what Deftones are to Nu-Metal, not amazingly talented but were in the right place at the right time.

now to convince chino to bite on a shotgun.....😉

Deftones, I prefer over Nirvana to be honest. They just make music more to my taste. Where as I would put two bands of the big that were involved in the grunge movement, over Nirvana, I wouldn't put any Nu-Metal band over Deftones whom I don't consider to be Nu-Metal ANYWAY.

Deftones being one of my favorite bands and Nirvana being my entrance to the 'Rock' world!
Because this is a matter of opinion and not based of facts then if you don't like my opinions then suck a fart!
Nirvana deserve much respect for changing the rock industry into what it is today and (in my opinion) being a good band with not bad music. I admit they'r not my favorite band but...hmm how do I put it...Think of me growing up in a house where my mom listens to Country music and my dad Israeli folk songs, somehow I got into rock and that is all Nirvana's fault (as my parents would see it), so yes you could say I like them.
Deftones is another matter of opinion and yes I love them, they'r unique and they ROCK!
