Awesome Fantastic Four Set Pictures!
Source: Opus Penguin November 2, 2004

Scooper 'Opus Penguin' dropped a big one on our desks this morning. We now have 7 awesome new Fantastic Four set pictures featuring Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Jessica Alba as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

On our recent visit to the Vancouver set, we briefly saw the red car in these pictures that gets a bit more compact in the film. To check out all the images, just hit the link below:

Here

This isn't the only team member that The Thing has been seen punching in the FF film so far, apparently The Thing has also punches the Torch in the stomache at some point in the film.

First of all hi all guys, i haven't too much time to be in this marvelous forum but i like the time in can sped in it.
About the FF4 Movie.

We have:

Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, wouldn't be the best choose for that role, but in Dark Angel she was a super soldiers, so she has experience with super powered characters, and maybe she can do the job

A not CGI Thing, damn, this is the worst thing of the movie, the costume the actor wears it's really bad, and the trousers he wears, i hope they are not the trousers of his costume as a member of the FF4.
I study computer graphic at school and so my opinion is a little forced but i think they must make it in CGI, Hulk was nice, and the Thing without being so big, needs the help of the computer to be realistic, or it will look like the 1994 movie.Chiklis is a good actor ok, but he's too old to make Ben Grimm. And he doesn't seems to be someone who can play the famous for saying "It's Clobbering Time"

Reed Richards
He looks good, probably the best choice between the others, i hope the CGI work on him will be good and not a lame work.

Dr. Doom

Julian MacMahon has played many bad roles as an actor, he knows how to make a char bad, and he has the charm to make Dr. Doom, but probably he have to prepare good to make the ruler of Latveria looking like the smart bada.s.s. he his, and i hope they give him a really Dr. Doom armor, with all the devices it contains.

The Human Torch

The guy they choose to do Johnny Storm is not blond, but he looks like the typical young fun guy, so the kind of guy that Johnny is, unripe, imprudent, but sometimes intelligent, and brave

Thing looks fvcking awful

the thing does look terrible, i dont really give a damn about the costume, but he is a freakin midget...

Yes I agree, not only does the costume look terrible but he is only about 5 feet 10 inches tall even with the costume on.

Peter David Writing Fantastic Four Novelization
Source: PeterDavid.net November 9, 2004

Writer Peter David has announced on his official website that he'll be writing the Fantastic Four movie adaptation:

As for the FF film, I can tell you with authority (but without going into detail) that it is not at all the goofball comedy as first reported, but instead faithful in tone and style to the Lee/Kirby comics. There's some major changes in terms of the origin, but less than what they did in "Ultimate FF," and besides, c'mon--four people trying to get to the moon before the Russians? Just a TAD dated. How do I know this? Because I've been hired by Pocket Books to do the novelization of the film. So this'll be my fourth novelization of a Marvel comics movie.

Heres the link:

hmmm..interesting. but what does he mean exactly by their origin changing? i understand the dated thing..but how are they planning on changing it?

i don't know, honestly, anyway...

Fantastic Four Vancouver Set Report
Source: bulent hasan November 10, 2004

Scooper 'bulent hasan' tells us he got to take a peek at the Fantastic Four set in Vancouver (possible spoilers ahead!):

I was just on the set on Fantastic Four here in Vancouver. I just wanted to get by what i saw happen today, which may (or may not be ) already be news to you. just to get this across, i wasn't one of the people across the street, and i wasn't an extra, i was IN the set. I was about 10 feet away from the stunt double in the thing outfit, that close. I was watching them film a part of the fight between Dr.Doom and Thing, when Doom takes a broken street lamp and swings it at THing when he's running at him full speed, hitting him then throwing Thing back 30 feet, then landing on the ground and causing a crater where he lands.

Now what I saw shot today were 2nd units getting coverage of the cool stuff, the wire work. THey first got smoke machines going like crazy and smoked all of burrard street in vancouver, which makes the street lamps softer in the distance (those of you who don't know this, smoke is a very good lighting tool and diffuses the light to give a softer look to the film). Thing ran at doom a few times, close ups on the feet, close up above the waist. What i noticed is that thing was in his "Uniform" which consists of him wearing only the FF blue tights, 4 logo and the big black boots (yep, he wears boots). This night was also the first time i saw DOOM so i have to be honest, I'm not too impressed on a first impression, but then again all i saw was a guy in a metal mask swing a pole. no context as to why he wears what he wears.

In the directors tent with the playback monitors i saw the footage from the night before being looped, where thing gets hit like a baseball, its quite something! This must have been a major fight towards the end of the film.

The great thing is that they are going for the more realistic look in everything. They're using more on set, in camera effects than usual because otherwise it looks fake. The footage shot so far seems to have a very slick look to it. Not loud and vibrate like batman. The location was lit to naturally look like it was night. Thing is cool looking, and seeing him tossed around is even cooler. When Thing walked up to me my jaw dropped. I was really sold by the suit.

well i'll admit it does sound like it'll be decent...but we still have some time till we can be sure about it.

very true

New Fantastic Four Set Reports & Pics
Source: Superhero Hype! November 11, 2004

'Mark' at Hollywood North Report alerted us that they've posted some new pictures of the Fantastic Four finale filming in Vancouver. Their set report and pics contain spoilers, so proceed at your own risk at the link above.

Scooper 'ROC4LIFE' also sent us this report about what was filmed a few nights ago. There's spoilers here as well:

I like in Penticton which is a 5 hour drive from Vancouver and I am a huge fan of the FF as id my father who has almost every original book, well we drove to Vancouver 3 nights ago so we could say we atleast attempted to see the FF filming and dear god did it pay off, They were filming at Granville and Howe and they wouldnt let us on the block because it was roped up, so my dad called a friend from the radio station and he hooked us up with VIP passes because a local radio station is providing catering for a week, so after i got on set they were filming a fight scene during the day, the whole cast except for alba was there, they also had a large screen tv in an open trailer thing with footage that looked totaly done which just kept playing looped.

well the scene i saw geting filmed was with Evans aka Johny storm and Thing and Doom, there was also a stunt double wearing a costume that was read and they lit him on fire and had him attached to cords to make him looke like he was flying, as in a superman position laying flat and he flew towards Doom and hit him in the stomach wth his hands, his hands were the only part on actualy fire, they did the shoot around 15 times, and the guy in the red suite did not wear a costume. The intresting thing about Doom is what he was wearing, He had the mask on that wasseen in the footage and wore a blazer like suite that was also a cloak, it looked intresting, he also wore a large chain around his kneck, which was gold, the blazer/cloak was a deep grey/green and did seem to look quite kool, when johny hit him the hood on his head flies back and the rest of his head was seen, and its looked like burn skin with veins and stuff, the mask only went to the back of his ears. After jogny hit him Iain (Reed) stood behind him and just held his arms out like a meter behind him and then Doom would squirm, i supose thats when they would add the stetching CGI, what else can i say about dooms costume, underneat the blazer was a black tight shirt almost a turtlekeck and he wore just dress pants the same color as the blazer and black boots that went up to his knees, this probaly seems quite hard to visualize, the actor who plays thing (chilkis) was there but never in suit, there wsa no one in the thing suit.

The footage i saw being played on the big screen was intresting i only saw around 3mins cause we wernt sure how long we could hang around for, but sumone told me it had been playing over and over. The part i saw had johny talking to some girl who was black, quite attractive, they were on a busy street then sudenly he jost zones out like noones there he sense something and he flames on floats a little and then shoots up really fast to the top of a building while he flys up the windows break going up, it looked amazing and i was very impressed with the look of it.

i dont know much else i can say but that i was impressed with what i saw, and that Doom was only wearing a mask, there was no other metal on his body, the filming was around 6:00 in the evening and it was not quite dark yet.
