**heads up to dawsey for pointing me in the direction of this thread. Hey man send me a PM when you see the movie. I want to know what you think*
I just saw an early screening of Fantastic Four last night and I can definately say that I, personally, enjoyed FF much more than BB.
My only worthwhile complaint with FF was some of the casting. I thought Dr. Doom was off, but I really couldn't picture Dr. Doom acting in the movies like he does in the comics. That would have added a serious cheese factor. So I guess they did as best they could with him.
I think of Susan Storm as motherly...so Jessica Alba wouldn't have been my first choice to play her. But she is hot, so that didn't really bother me that much.
The effects in the movie are awesome.
Stan Lee had his cameo.
The jokes are a little too superfluous; but they are all jokes that made me laugh, which is good.
The most impressive thing to me was the creative ways they came up using the FFs powers. Watch the movie and you'll see what I mean.
It's not like X-men where everything is pretty much a Wolverine movie, all characters had their own ongoing subplots and it all came together pretty entertainingly.
It's like not pretending to be dark and moody, but still for little kids at the same time like BB. FF is just a feel good movie.
I vote for FF. Anyone else seen it yet?
Oh and yes, Johnny Storm does have the ability to go super-nova in the movie.
For the record, I did think FF was going to suck compared to BB. I was surprised at how good I thought it was.
Just came back from the screening.
I must say this movie was good. Surprisingly so much better than I'd expect. Torch's humor was great, and his lines weren't cheesy at all. He acted totally in character, and while the movie did change a bunch of plot lines (e.g.: Victor Von Doom having Sue Storm + a space station; a scientist who Reed comes to after filing for bankruptcy 😮.).
Spoilers and other thoughts:
What the HELL did The Thing need a blind girlfriend for in the end?! Stupidest thing ever. And he de-things near the end, only to re-thing. Stupidest, shortest character development ever.
Johnny Storm makes up the codenames, and he acts all celebrity like + everyone loves the FF in the end. They've got what the X-Men don't.
Doom isn't dead, but he's got to be back next flick (which is a must, I say) cuz The Mole Man is a retard.
Jessica Alba did a good job as The Invisible GIRL (Stupid Torch didn't name her Invisible Woman...and its funny, even Sue [who's called 'Susie' a lot...yuck] says "Girl?!"😉 AND OMG I LOVE ALBA: SHE SAID ERGO! ERGO! Ahahah! It was totally unnoticed by all and there was me in the theater laughing my ass off...
Eye candy GALORE. Torch half naked = *swoon*. A bit hairy though...still, I was fanning myself. Reed is quite adorable too, and Doom was hot for a bit. The mask was weird though. I'm irked that the costumes were basically shown torso up, a lot. No drooling at the unstable molecules of the uniforms 🙁
All in all, a good movie. Not butchered entirely. 8 outta 10.
I was more entertained by the special effects, the creative ways they used their powers and the light-toned humor of Fantastic Four than the dark, moody and slow-moving Batman Begins movie. In fact, that was my main problem with the Batman Begins: Yes, it was nice to see them take the time to nicely develop Bruce Wayne's transition into Batman, but it just simply took too long.
While BB had a more compelling story, FF was just simply more fun to watch.
I saw it today. I wasn't disappointed but that was because I expected it to be shitty. If you like the commercials, you'll like the movie because it is that corny throughout the whole thing. The only character I liked was Thing. He was the only one I ended up giving a damn about while the others didn't show any emotion even though Mr. Fantastic and Sue tried. I also didn't like how friendly Dr. Doom's voice sounded despite coming out of that bad ass mask.
