i believe it's been stated officially that Jar Jar DOESN'T die. There's a compilation on TF.N of who has said what regarding EIII. I think Rick McCallum said this in an interview.

impossible. the death star's first victim is alderaan. the DS isn't operational until Episode IV.

I doubt jar jar will die. lucas tried to use him as childish comic relief but failed miserably. however jar jar's character was suppose to appeal to kids mostly and i doubt someone with that kind of stigma will die on screen. altho i wish that sh!thead would just DIE!!!!

true, the Death Star space station is not fully operational until New Hope, but there could be a giant orbital laser of some sort, very similar to the one later incorporated as the weapon onboard the Death Star.

Maybe this giant laser is used in conjunction with Star Destroyers to help secure the blockade, and maybe the Empire uses the giant laser blockade against Naboo in a symbolic gesture as it was the Naboo blockade that started the whole twisted turn of events in episode 1...

that way, ep 3 ties back to ep 1, and also ties to ep 4 in more ways than one, PLUS the added bonus of seeing Naboo, the Gungans and Jar Jar Binks blown to bits...

instead of thinking "millions dead, how terrible" we'll be thinking

also, it is stated that naboo will NOT be destroyed.

so there it is. chances are jar jar will die, but we won't get to see it =(
