My take on future movies

These thoughts have been percolating in my head for some time now, so I may as well just pour them out here to give my mind a rest. Basically, this is what my approach would be to making more Spiderman movies were I the one calling the shots...

Spiderman 3
Since the director and principle actors are calling it quits after this one, it makes sense for them to want to conclude the story threads they've been weaving through the first two movies instead of making totally new ones from scratch. Green Goblin 2 is a must, then, but if Raimi's smart he'll include a second villain.

Reason being is that we've already seen a Goblin character, so there needs to be another foe to help stem the repetitiveness inherent in the main villain. Of the hinted villains in the past movies, Connors is the only one to really have progressed so he seems the most probable choice. And since he's a friend of Peter's but an enemy of Spidey's just like GG2, the villains can be played off of each other in that regard.

Cont. in the following posts

As far as whether or not we'll see another movie after the trilogy, I'd say it could go either way. If someone does decide to pick up the franchise, this seems like the smartest path to take...

Spiderman 4
Because of the risks involved in a fourth movie, what with a new director and main actors, you're going to have to be ambitious with this one. That means the fourth movie is the place where we'd most likely see Venom, as he's the supervillain a majority of fans are clamoring for. But more on him in a moment.

Concerning new director/actors, I honestly don't know who would helm this film. Anyone, regardless of talent, runs the risk of not upholding the standard of the previous movies, so it's a total toss-up. As for the actors, though, Jake Gyllenhaal seems a shoe-in for Parker since he was already set to play him in part two. And considering that he's Dunst's real life boyfriend, I'd imagine she'd be willing to stay on in the role of Mary Jane.

As for Venom, my vote would be for Nick Chinlund. He's a charismatic, upcoming actor who not only looks the part but has a great voice for the character and acting chops to boot. Hiring him would also continue the trend of avoiding superstars and going with lesser but still known actors of arguably superior talent.

I'd open the movie with the crashing of a NASA shuttle on the bridge. Not only does this allow us to introduce the symbiote (collected in outer space and the cause of the crash), but it gives us a very strong opening scene. For roughly half the movie, the symbiote would be with Peter (though a greater passage of time would be indicated). His increasing violence would be contrasted with Brock's downfall. Venom would be present a great deal in the last half of the film, really hurting Parker because of his abilities and knowledge in several great action pieces, before finally being defeated. Brock would go to jail, and the symbiote would seem to be dead.

While we know S3 is already in the works and S4 is at least somewhat possible, beyond that point we're really starting to get into the realm of far-fetched speculation. I stand by my suggestions for those two films, but from here on out it's more in the way of idle musings. In any event, since the rumors indicate a possibility of six movies, I'll speculate on the last two as well...

Spiderman 5
This seems to be the weakest movie in terms of villains, but by necessity I suppose. Generally speaking, you could go with practically any of the better known villains, like Shocker or Scorpion, or for that matter go with multiple villains. Hobgoblin might make an interesting choice as a focal villain, as most movie fans would be wondering who he was considering the Osbourne's have been accounted for (and that would also give us an excuse to use Alex Ross' excellent design).

But the real focus of this movie, I think, should be Black Cat. I'd hold off on introducing her any earlier for this reason. While in S3 I'm sure we'll see Mary Jane learning to deal with life as Spidey's girl, and if things go as I suggested in S4 chances are MJ will particularly rattled by Venom, then this movie would be the place to play with Peter's loyalty. Here's this girl, after all, who can take care of herself and doesn't need protecting.

Plotwise, a lot of it would depend on whether we're going with multiple villains or not. Regardless, on the Cat side of things Parker'd likely spend the first bit of things chasing her under the assumption she's a criminal. They'd eventually join up, Peter would struggle with the question of which girl is the one for him, and then they'd fight the major villain together. The day would be won, of course, but Peter would decide to stay with MJ.

Oh how I loathe this post limit, but only one more to go.

Alright, the last post. Sorry to spill all over you guys, and the whole repeat posting thing, but this mess will be cleaned up in just a bit.

Spiderman 6
You've probably guessed, but this is where Carnage comes into play. As this would be the hypothetical final movie, we need to go out with a bang (hence the reason S5 didn't feature as much in the way of vileness). I understand we can't go and show bloodbath that Carnage is famous for, but we can work around the PG-13 rating.

Basically, I'm thinking that most of Carnage's carnage would be environmental, by which I mean burning cars overturned in the streets, people fleeing in panic, etc. People could be shown as already dead, if tastefully done, and in fact could prove a crucial scene where the camera pans out to show us the bodies in the streets that Peter sees.

As odd as the suggestion may sound, I actually think Conan O'Brian could make an interesting Cletus Kassidy. He's got the look down, and if you direct his comedy towards things such as decapitation he might be able to pull it off nicely. The guy in the blue suit (to be overlayed with the CGI Carnage later) would likely be some stuntman, of course.

Ah yes, plot. The Venom symbiote lives and comes to rescue Eddie, but leaves its spawn behind. Carnage is born and begins wreaking havoc. After some initial tussels, Spidey and Venom team up, and they're joined by Cat. Together, although it's tough, they stop Cassidy when Venom consumes his spawn. Venom himself is allowed to go, for now, which of course leaves open the possibility of his own spinoff.

Carnage, in turn, could be reintroduced if, say, Venom literally couldn't stomach him any longer. But I'm digressing. In any event, that's all I've got. Hope I haven't pissed anyone off.

No one has told you that this is a good job. I'll be the first:

"This is a good job."

I think having a Quadrilogy would be awesome.

Goblin and The Lizard for 3, introducing the symbiote and Eddie Brock.

Venom in Spidey 4 - which ends the seroies with a bang.

THAT'S IT!

I'll be happy with just 3, I'd be ecstatic if Venom is in a (intro'd in 3) 4th.

Beyond a fourth film, I can't see it going anywhere but DOWNHILL. The best villains are exhausted. Having Venom in the FINAL movie would end it appropriately.

Why, thank you.

I wholeheartedly agree. The only reason to do S5 & S6 is if the studio heads were insisting. And upon further reflection of S5 villains, the only ones to go with would be a pairing drawn from Scorpion, Shocker, Hobgoblin, or Kraven. I don't think anything else would really work.

But back to the concept of a Quadrilogy, what would be great about that is the potential for a Venom spinoff. Instead of having Carnage in S6 as the big finale, he could be used as the main villain in that series. Furthermore, you could then get away with the R rating needed to do the character justice, something you'd never swing in the Spiderman franchise.

no venom, it will suck, what did he do ? chase spider all the movie and vice versa? he must have the FF sonic gun, and FF will be a sitcom movie, so lame.

It seems that there are only a few people on this board that aren't total (or at least partial) morons. Doc Brown, I welcome you to the club. Now watch as everyone freaks out and tells me I don't deserve to be in a club.

you know your absolutely right, sorta.

but the lizard is in the SM2 game, so said a friend, and the villains that were in the first game weren't in the second movie, but i don't know.

but dr. conners is in the second movie, so we'll see.

the rumor about 9 movies may be true, or yours would be awesome too.

I've posted about this before.

I have the game, and The Lizard was originally planned to be in SM2 the game, but was taken out. Why? Well it's pretty obvious they're SAVING him for something.

OHHH, ok. 😄 😉

do you think spidey should change his costume in the 3rd movie?

My take is that all the man spider movies will betraying spidey and his villains and the other characters and stories just as the first two has made. 🙄

what did they betray in the 2nd movie?

Spidey, mary jane, doc ock, isnt that enough?
