The Suggestion Thread

WooHoo!

That's actually going to stop a majority of the "How do I attach a file" threads, most of those were from people who didn't even realize there was another page for Post Reply.

I give this feature two thumbs up. 👆👆

I don't see it. 😕

It's working with all schemes or only the default one?

Agreed.

I think it'd be beneficial to have a columns tag, for things such as our profiles where we want to list many films, it'd be an easier scroll and such. If it's possible.

I propose a comprehensive "War on terror and aftermath" thread in the GDF. Every day a bored member creates a new useless thread about the last tiny piece of news he has heard or read ("soldiers did...", "New attack...", "Pakistan..."😉, and brings nothing new to the topic.

I think G.P has a point here.

My only worry there is that it might encourage the creation of effectively worthless topics. New areas are like roads; you build them and traffic soon floods them and the result isn't always worth it, and it requires policing from the mods, and so on.

Note that I've said "a thread" : I know the danger of a particular area (sub-forum)... That way members with a hot piece of news would simply post it in the thread, there would be 4 or five answers...and the debate (if this is possible) could carry on.

I counted 11 threads on GDF's 1st page, 3 on 2nd, 10 on 3rd page...

A single thread would just become jammed with mush, I suspect.

yea we could arrange quota like if an attack kills more than 15 ppl you can make a thread about it, but just one individual dieing in the struggle is something to be mentioned in the thread.

So you're basing the importance of a discussion about someone dying through terrorism on how many people actually die? Seems a bit harsh 😬

I thought I would get a reaction like that, but what other quotum would you use Syren?

I don't really know... I understand that threads made about every single individual tragedy would completely overload the place, but it's still quite a harsh quotum 😬

Gah, perhaps we could consider threads being made about larger attacks in specific areas, and then other similar attacks made in those areas could be discussed in the relevant threads? Like the London attacks, for example, one thread already made could be used as the place to post all updated news and ensuing attacks on London itself?

yea that would also be a good idea, why didn't I think of that???? 😕

What do you mean by column tag? Do you have an example?

About the single thread solution, I'm not sure that would work by itself. I think Syren's solution seems more appropriate.

Just a quick FYI:

I've updated the code for the forum jump, which I'm hoping will make page displaying a little faster. Let me know if you notice any problems.

will do

*disregard this
some sections are moving around*

Umm like columns in Microsoft Word for example.

Like you know columns 😛

I think what she's getting at is something like this:

{Column1}TEXT{column2}TEXT2{/column1}{/comlumn2}

to give:

|||| TEXT |||| TEXT2 ||||

Or something confusing like that... 😄 Haven't a clue how you'd do the coding 😛 Apologies if I'm wrong, and that's nothing like what she wanted 😮
