Depp to be Hunter S.Thompson Again
We reported it a month ago, and now it's been confirmed.
Acting impresario Johnny Depp will once again play Hunter S. Thompson. He will revisit his impressive impersonation of Hunter, first seen in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in 1998.
Variety magazine says that the film will be based on Thompson’s first novel, The Rum Diary (Books) and will be directed by Bruce Robinson (DVDs), whose previous credits include writing The Killing Fields and freaky film Jennifer 8.
As soon as Johnny Depp (DVDs) finishes his role in the sequel to the Pirates of the Caribbean, he will commence filming the story about Hunter S.Thompson’s writings on journalism and drink in Puerto Rico during the late fifties.
Johnny Depp, who prepared for the last Thompson role by locking himself in a room with the man for about three days, has Thompson’s persona down to a tee, and will surely impress once again in this new film.
Hunter S. Thompson, who committed suicide a few months ago, will now be remembered once again in a physical form.
Benicio Del Toro will also star again as the legal sidekick, though this time Josh Hartnett and Nick Nolte will also be in the film.
The film is ultimately about a twenty-two-year old Hunter S. Thompson, and the alcoholic lust amidst a love story, intertwined with vengeful jealousy.
We will see Hunter S. Thompson’s experience in the party town of San Juan, Puerto Rico, back in 1959.
More news on this as we get it...
