It's gotten me to thinking...
I already assumed that ep3 would be the best yet, (pt or ot) but now I am getting really intrigued.(way past the normal excitement.)
This movie will do many things for many people, when it's fully assembled and seen.
First: it will be the end of the pt and it will end the story arc started in PHANTOM MENACE, tying up what happened before ep4.
Second:it will transition all of the characters who are left, and merge the plot seamlessly(in my opinion) into ep4.
Third: it will make all six movies into a strong story of good, evil, fantasy,action, love, hate,evil,betrayal, and ultimately.. redemption.
Fourth: these pictures only confirmed something that I had been toying with in my mind for awhile... while Lucas tells a specific story in each movie(pt), and they all have things to remind of the ot, each prequel also mirrors the movie in the ot that it would go along with ex: A NEW HOPE; PHANTOM MENACE. Now not exactly of course,in fact I think Lucas purposefully has the story go different ways, but they resemble each other. I was watching RETURN of the JEDI yesterday, and I think I can see some of the stuff that will echo REVENGE.
The emporer has a bigger part and is revealed for who he is.
The emporer will test the Jedi Skywalker to use the darkside and join him.
Anakin will be overwhelmed by the opportunities that the darkside offers, like saving his life."you dont know the power of the dark side."
The sith apprentice will fight the Jedi Skywalker, at the manipulation of Palpatine, who wants the strongest apprentice.
And the wookie world, and battle, will tie in (visually and thematically, having nature based creatures against mechanical war machines) with, dont hate me, the ewoks and their village in ep6.
Fifth and finally: I think it was George Lucas intention for it (the sw saga) to be a mosaic like this, since he sat down to write ep1.
My sincere hope: fickle fans and careless critics, who saw ep1 and didn't see any real connection to their beloved ot, then watched ep2 and thought it was more of the same, a kid movie with too much cgi that only catered to fanboys who wanted yoda to fight, will watch the ot dvd's then ep1 and 2 dvd's , see 3 and finally GET IT!!!
I'd like to see Lucas get his best picture oscar. The acadamy is known to give "make up" oscars, like to al pacino who should've won for godfather 1 or2, dog day afternoon, or any number of movies, but got it for scent of a woman. Or denzel, who should've won for malcom x or hurricane but got it for training day??!!?? Also they have been know to give "achivement oscars" like peter jackson and LOTR, for the time, effort, and risk of making those movies.
It took Jackson what 9 0r 10 years at most?
Lucas has been at this for 25+!!!!
They owe him. He was robbed. My mother has told me, and Jedi priestess can back me up on this(no foul, all love JP)but, alec guiness should have won best supporting, the music should've won, Lucas should've won, and the picture should've won. They were all nominated.
What happened? It's one of my mom's favorites, but even she will tell you that woody allen and Annie Hall, were not the best in cinema that year.
Lucas deserves it. Ep3 has already proved it to me, when it comes out, I'm just going to go enjoy.
I only hope that it will be proved to the unbelievers as well.
because he makes his own movies, and pays for them, doesnt listen to focus groups that say he needs a young han solo, and has a vision, hollywood hates him. Hates him and his digital camera. It's almost sad because he has HELPED them, and given us something great to remember.

the academy gives awards to melodramatic manipulative dramas or "heartwarming" romantic comedies (as long as they're not too funny)....not action sci fi fantasy films....it usually won't honour anything risky and original, or anything cheesy in a lightweight, light-entertainment kind of way.....star wars is kind of mixture of the two....
personally i like how lucas has rejected hollywood and stands apart from it....however they did give in to peter jackson....if ep III is as dark and moving as it seems to be from what we've seen and heard, hell, it might just be in with a shot....
but i'd be even more happy for lucas to retain his rebel, outsider status....screw hollywood....

I agree.........Guiness should have won and so should have Lucas if nothing else for bringing such a new type of film to the world. It would be nice to see it happen at the end but I am not holding my breath.
