You creepy little stalker
Oh man did I not like Deadly Alliance at all.
I hate it how so many fighting games are becoming combo this and combo that. Its rubbish. It's no fun having to sit for two hours learning moves properly until you can use them effectively in a fight.
That's why everyone prefers the old ones. Street Fighter was simple yet incredibly deep. Companies forget this and go for combos and style every freakin time.
Mortal Kombat 4 on the N64 was fantastic because it was incredibly simple and moves were diverse. Deadly Alliance had like one special move and about ten different punches for each character. It was boring and played boring.
They need to ditch the Virtua Fighter wannabe mechanics and go back to basics. Here is a list of what I'd like to see:
1) The same basic movelist for everybody. Forget the weapons, they suck. When I press down and high punch, I want EVERY character to do an uppercut (I miss that move so much). I press back and high kick and EVERY character does a powerful roundhouse kick. The way you make it different is that the animations are different in how they go about the move. None of this switching stance nonsense.
2) Make each characters movelists different by having several special attacks. You know the score, Sub Zero can make ice shadows, ice balls, slide around etc, Scorpion can teleoprt, breath fire, "get over here" etc.
3) We wanna jump twice our height into the air. Half the fun of Scorpion was watching fly around the screen like Spiderman. We want the over the top Bruce Lee style fights again.
4) Some visible damage would be sweet. Clothes rip, sleeves get torn off, its not that hard you just switch models when damage gets high.
