Jedi training too short in ESB

When Luke was on Dagobah, Han goes to Bespin where he gets tortured. Between that short time, Luke had his training. This is one of the mysteries that plagued me in ESB. Luke's training consisted of Yoda riding on his back, standing upside down, facing the tree, and how can Vader even say, "You have learned much, young one." And actually duel with a jedi (sith)??? Anyone have any good theories?

Luke was never all that good, ofcourse he improved a bit in ROTJ but the only reason he survived that long is because Vadar went easy on him, as far gone as Anakin is as Vadar, he doesn't want to kill his own son.

"Learned much" meaning he can harness that power more or less...right, he's hardly good at what he does

Yup... it is very brief 'training'. Luke doesn't actually even graduate from apprenticeship until the end of ROTJ and that is after several years at war.

still we actually dont know the time Luke spent on bespin, remember the falcon didnt have the hyperdrive intact so their journey to Bespin must have taken some time

That was the whole point! He had the vision of his friends and had to make a choice. It was all about patience and learning your power slowly, unlike Anikan who took the quik path.

Yoda-"If you chose the quick and easy path as Vader did, you will become an agent of evil"

That's it!

I dunno why it was that this was bothersome to me, but ESB is so perfect that the blemish stood out. But the best explanation was that Falcon's drive was malfunctioning, so that flight must have taken a long time. That had to be it!

The Falcon with no hyperdrive has always been a bit of a continuity 'issue', actually.

But it's not a blemish! Not at all. Luke is naturally very talented, and Yoda taught him all the basics, but it is clear that he is totally unprepared in ESB. We normally assume that he is there for weeks- because as well as the journey (which literally in sci-fi should take the Falcon years but this is Star Wars...), Han stays on Bespin for an undetermined 'while'- which is enough for a basic grounding bit not enough to do any good.

Also remember Vader is hardly in his Prequel Trilogy prime, as GL makes clear.
