It is ridiculously biased and sexist to refuse to hit a woman but be ok about hitting a weak man.
Fact is, whilst women are less likely to be able to look after themselves... some of them are just as capable and/or dangerous as a a typical guy, or more, and ruling them out of being hit (especiallly if they are hitting you) just because they are female is dumb.
I spent close to a decade as a near invalid due to illness; I am buggered if I am going to accept the logic that would say it is ok to hit me, who could not really hit back, but not ok to hit a reasonably fit girl who could actually do a fair amount of damage.
Why not have some sense and just say it is not ok to hit anyone? Regardless of gender.
Your ex was hitting you for the wrong reasons. He has no way to adequately justify what he did and he has no good reason for doing so.
I don't believe that guys should be allowed to hit women. If one hits me, it's usually because I disserve it for making a comment dissing something they like. Even then I would fight back by taking her pen or something but that's it.
