Very, very subtle things in advertisements that they do hoping you will pick up on without realizing it. Classic example was in the 2000 elections when team Bush did a fake Gore ad, and halfway through it, they put the words "Dirty rats" or something on the screen for a single frame. Now, a single frame is so short you can't even really see it... What happens is that you just sort of "think" the words from having watched it.
