Is there such a thing as "luck"?

I've often wondered about this. I'm sure that we have all felt from time to time that some people are just born with all the luck. But is this true? Are some people luckier than others, or do they make their own luck? While it can be said that some people make their own luck, you then have to look at the person that wins alot at games of chance. I myself have always felt like if I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all, whereas my friend seems to live under a lucky star. She's seems to always be in the right place at the right time or winning something etc etc. And if there is such a thing as "luck" where does it come from? What are you guys opinions on this?

Ah BUT Spearbabe, some people just win without doing anything........for example this friend I was talking about.......we have been to like 7 events in the last year where they were giving something away and I swear she has won at 4 of them. And this is out of hundreds of people entering. WHAT CAUSES THIS?

What's there to explain? It's just the term used when something good or bad happens to someone that isn't dependant on them or in their control.

BUt why do some people experience this more than others?

I'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around and that life gives us what we need so long as we're willing to accept it.
I think it depends on your frame of mind as well. For me I consider myself to very lucky - I have an amazing family, a good job that allows me to enjoy my life and do pretty much what ever I want. Now some might say that, that is just down to hard work - well I say I'm lucky enough to have the ability to work hard... 😄

I regularly enter the UK national lottery and I've never so much as won £10. 🙁

Nah, I've recently had appendicitis but the doctors caught it and removed it just as it was about to rupture saving me from very serious illness - that was lucky! 😉

I'll still enter the lottery as it helps contribute to worthwhile causes. I doubt I'll ever win because I just dont think I'm destined for fame and fortune but I've got a very good life so you could just say that my luck just runs in different ways. 🤣

because some people have more that an equal share of randomness than others 😉 and it's that very thing I wonder about.

I believe in beginners luck. It happens to me all the time. 😉

It's mostly in the mind. Some people act in ways that cause unfavourable circumstances for themselves.

I think it’s in the eye of the beholder. If you always focus on your bad luck, and count the number of times something bad happens to you – you’ll end up considering yourself unlucky and refuse to take chances.
There can be no luck without chances.
If you, on the other hand, decide to focus on the good luck, you can eventually feel “lucky”. It goes up and down -

If you don't ask the answer is always "no".

I believe luck exists to an extent. Not like, predetermined luck. Just on the spot luck.

Like if someone kicks a soccer ball and you turn and see it just in time and you dodge it, people would say "Ohhhh lucky". I think it's just another broad word for coincidence.

if you have 5 balls and in a box. 4 white and one black. and you ask someone to pick one and then put it back. it is thoretically possible..by randomness..that he will pick the balck ball 10 or 100 times in a row. it's merely chance

Just random events and some people seem to get more beneficial random events than others
