They Pierce tank armor, and Tank Armor is Layers of Depleted Uranium, Steel, and Multiple, MULTIPLE layers of Kevlar and Reactive Armor that Jettisons form the tank when the outer most layer is struck with a round.
And A Howitzer will Still Get Through it.

😕 Why would you build armor out of depleted uranium? That just seems expensive, heavy and ineffective.

Very True, which is why the Army is slimming down and switching to a smaller and lighter attack force, such as Humvees, Helicopters, Strikers, ETC.
