finally know where they got it from!

OK, we all know the scene where Aragorn is knocked down by the Troll in the battle at the Black Gates right? Yeah and it isn't from the book. SO what on earth possessed the writers to come up with that scene.

Well while reading the Silmarillion, i saw it. Fingolfin was fighting Morgoth( Melkor) and he was hit down and stepped on by Morgoth. And he jabbed his sword into his foot. But the only difference being that Aragorn lived.
( its in Chap 18 btw)

So i just thought that was a nice homage to one of the greats from Middle Earth's past.
