OK, this is not to do with talent (because I'm sure the likes of Hendrix and so on are easily better than these guys) but my list is down to INTEREST.
My fave guitarists boil down to performance, and watchability.
Jack White (say what you like, I think he's interesting in how he performs)
Hendrix (of course)
George Thorogood (I don't know why, I just do)
Slash (It's SLASH!)
Billie Joe Armstrong (Power Chord mental, but he's just a damn good performer)
Out of guitarists today. Rather than keep naming the people we all know are untouchable (Hendrix, Van Halen, Clapton, Ray Vaughn, Knopfler etc) I'm going to name some great up and comers.
Well obviously there's established ones like Morello, Jones, Einziger, Corgan, Greenwood etc.
I'm gonna go with...Thom Yorke who is an amazing rhythm guitarist.
Bill Kelliher of Mastodon, great guitarist. Comes up with some astounding riffs.
Owen Richards of Colour of Fire.
Jack White of The White Stripes. Possibly the most overlooked when people come to talking about guitarists today.
