*drops down from the rafters overhead*
Hello, I'm the new symbiote in town and I would just like to make everyone's acquaintance. I was wondering, if a symbiote bonded with a blind person, would it repair any damage or defects in the host's eyes or could it sacrifice it's sight for extended/improved senses greater than that of the normal level of increase a host gains after bonding with a symbiote? I know, it makes more sense for the symbiote to just repair the defects or find a better host. Also, what what a symbiote cat look like? O.o; The reason I asked is that I'm developing my own symbiote character. I dunno if I want him to be blind with increased senses or for him to remain a normal symbiote. I'm also toying with the idea of him being a preacher. Or maybe have the symbiote always in control and have it refer to it's host as it's "other" instead. He's also nnamed as of yet. Part of me wants to try the whole preacher thing but another part of me says it's lame. The same also applies to him having a symbiote cat. Perhaps I could just have it bond with a cat temporarily until it finds a better host rather than make a whole character out of it. A blind person or a cat do seem like poor choices for a symbiote. It would probably consider them weak and flawed. Anyway, thoughts, suggestions, and comments are welcome.
*retreats back into the rafters and remains hidden*
*ish in the rafter right next to White Symbiote* BOO! HAHAHA!
Uhm... the symbiote COULD have been badly beaten up somehow and needed shelter so it snagged the first thing it saw: a blind man and/or his cat. The cat idea is a teensie bit cheesy, but cheese IS good on sammiches. Where am I going with this? I lost it long ago...
Anywho-dilly-doodle, a person with a symbiote doesn't need eyes to see. It'd be kinda cool if he was blind and not able to be healed... like... he's missing that part of the brain... 'cause that's incurable! Yeah, it'd be a blind man... but like... he can see... all at once...
Hoo! I confuzzle mahself!
Preacher? Eh, whatever works for ya. Just don't make him monologue religious bull-honkey and righteousness... That's Venom's shtick just with a different subject...
Cool idea; I've often thought how useful symbiotes would be to people with all kinds of handicaps.
__It seems that the most important quality in a host is partnership. Hybrid's host was a paraplegic who used a wheelchair when he wasn't "in costume."
__As Carnage remarked when Spidey webbed his eyes, "Too bad I don't need them to see." (not sure of the exact quote) Symbiotes can also see what's happening BEHIND them; it just seems that they focus their sight receptors in the "eye-spots." Possibly they do this because it's easiest for the host's brain?
__You could go either way. As CJunkie suggested, you could have the guy's brain missing the pathways to process vision, and the sym could be a spawn, too young to have much idea of what a human brain should look like. Then it would make sense for the sym to concentrate on the other senses, and sometimes see "for" the man, in an emergency, simply perceiving danger, and moving him out of the way. Alternately, you could have it repair the brain.
__As for the cat, a clone of the venom sym used ROACHES as a temporary host in the Tsunami Venom series. I don't think I'd find anything but a temporary use plausible, however. They really seem to desire human companionship, and the intelligence of a more advanced host would be a huge advantage. Spawns seem to start out fairly ignorant. They obviously don't perform a "permanent bond" until they're very satisfied with a host, or gravely endangered by heat/sonic weaponry. This implies that they have an instinct to "keep their options open."
I would throw into the mix that all optic nerves in his body never existed. Happens more often than that part of the brain missing, it processes much more that just sight. However, the feline species is fairly intelligent, independent but, intelligent non-the-less. I can see how a symbiote could choose it for bonding. I can see it now, a cat the size of a HMMWV(Humvee)!
__Now, that's just scary. My poor godd@mn dog would never know what hit him; the dumb sonuva would be sniffing along salivating and suddenly...
__Ah, well, he only cost me 75 bucks. Still, I'm not raising cat food, you know?
__I haven't got a scanner, White Sym. Sorry. They were a mass of roaches. They were crawling individually, but they were linked by this splashing, black liquid. Each roach had some white, toothy projections at the front of its shell. Really odd and nasty.
Im in maine till Sunday night! BAH! No access to a computer except for right now (I'm at my cousin's, who is sleeping, and leaving tomorrow for IOWA) soooo.... fill my email and PM box with letters for me to read when I get home. I miss you (You know who you are) and you damn well better be on tomorrow morning or imma getcha!
Love you all (Even Robo, but not Freezedoom) and hope you leave me lots of spam....
Delicious. Spam.... :😄rools::

It's the end of the week and as promised here is the "Underweight Symbiote." http://www.freewebs.com/scibott/images/Depression.jpg It is only a sketch, I drew while on my tour of duty.
__I like the concept of "underweight" and visible bone structure.
__In this black and white sketch, there's not much to distinguish it from the classic "grey man" alien (skinny, big eyes, elongated limbs). Is that intentional? With color it could be completely different in its effect.
__It's appealing, a minimalist symbiote. Stands out!
__Spooky and mysterious quality, in such a physical being...it suggests somebody who'd rather live an ascetic life, however, symbiotes are notorious for appetite and aggression. Knowing that leaves me kind of wary of it. Cool.

You could just throw catnip at it. Animal symbiotes would seem a little odd. Like them bonding with a shark and praying mantis. Or an actual spider. Do you think symbiotes could come to actually love their host? It seems love would be a foreign emotion for them.
You mean they'll love them sexually or emotionally?
